Role

Paths for All's vision is for a happier, healthier Scotland where physical activity improves quality of life and wellbeing for all. Our vision is for Scotland to be a walking nation. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be active every day, creating a happier, healthier, and greener Scotland. A key element of this work involves significantly increasing the number of people who choose to walk in Scotland for both leisure and practical journeys.

Smarter Choices, Smarter Places is Paths for All’s behaviour change programme aimed at getting people to walk, cycle and wheel more for short journeys and adopt sustainable travel options for longer journeys. Currently in its eighth year of funding from Transport Scotland, the Programme provides grants to public and third sector organisations, encourages the sharing of good practice and promotes collaborative work at local, regional and national level. Smarter Choices, Smarter Places is used by all Scotland’s local authorities and funds many other third and public sector organisations to deliver locally specific initiatives that meet local needs. The Senior Development officer, Smarter Choices Smarter Places (Local Authority Fund) has a key role in ensuring that the Programme continues to deliver on its aims and objectives while also expanding its reach to new audiences.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills alongside a commitment and passion for encouraging and developing behaviour change within the sustainable transport sector. This is an exciting and challenging time, and the successful candidate will help to ensure Transport Scotland’s increasing levels of investment in active and sustainable travel make a contribution through Paths for All’s funding programme to Scotland’s climate change and public health priorities whilst also supporting communities and organisations across Scotland to build back after the COVID pandemic.

We offer the opportunity to be part of an organisation that recognises staff as our most valued asset. Attractive employment conditions include a contributory pension scheme and flexi-time policy.
