  • Closing 7th September 2022

Role

NLYHS is looking for someone who wants to make a difference to homeless children and families they work with – to help engage children, young people, and their families more actively in their educational journey. Through a combination of individual work, family work and work with the wider school community of families and housing departments, we are looking for someone who can work flexibly, hopefully, and strategically with us to make a real difference to the future of homeless children throughout North Lanarkshire.

The successful candidate will work on an outreach basis for most of the week (Monday – Friday) – with some early evening work as required by the post. Support will take place throughout the year - in both term time and school holiday periods.

Regular supervision with Barnardo's Line Manager will take place as will regular planning and review sessions with the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team of the school and Housing staff to ensure that the work is directly connected to improving the educational experience and attainment of the homeless children and young people.

Candidates should have experience of direct work with children – both individually and in groups, families, communities, partner agencies, and ideally, some experience of working within or alongside an educational setting.

Applicants would require a relevant qualification in education, health, social work or social care and an understanding of children's development in relation to attachment theory would be desirable.

Flexibility

Barnardo's believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work-life balance; we are therefore open to offering flexible working arrangements.

About Barnardo's
