Role

We are looking to recruit a Veterans Community Lead to join the Sight Scotland Veterans team. You will work with the Information and Support Manager, to lead on the charity’s new national ‘centre without walls’ service for veterans with sight loss, which will involve;

  • Supervision of the ‘centre without walls’ team, which will include a number of volunteers.
  • Day to day oversight of the ‘centre without walls’ which includes sporting opportunities, telephone/digital groups and IT support.
  • Raising awareness of Sight Scotland Veterans and the activities offered alongside the marketing team

As a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is a natural leader and skilled communicator, you will have prior experience of working with individuals with sight loss, preferably within an activities facilitation/sporting type role. You will be part of a high performing team which will lead the charity to continued success in meeting the aspirations of those who we support. Your role will involve supporting the creation of the ‘centre without walls’ service and leading the teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes that make a difference to people’s lives.

If you have experience in a relevant field, have clear understanding of sight loss and the challenges people face and feel you have the skills to grow and develop a new team, then we would love to hear from you.

Where able, this role will be carried out under our blended homeworking policy, you will work from home and from either Head Office in Edinburgh or the Hawkhead Centre in Paisley. However, remote working will be considered for those located out with these areas.

The post is subject to PVG Scheme Record/Update.
