SAMH is Scotland’s mental health charity. For almost 100 years SAMH has promoted the importance of good mental health; delivered dynamic and innovative recovery-focused services across Scotland; campaigned on behalf of people with mental health problems; and challenged stigma and discrimination.
At SAMH, we pride ourselves on the high quality of our support services across Scotland, and as we roll out our new organisational strategy, we are looking to recruit to the role of Senior Service Manager. These roles will lead our services to continue to build on their success and shape new developments and innovation across the organisation.
With overall responsibility for high quality delivery across a range of internal and external standards, and delivery across a number of social care services, within one of the geographic locations above, you’ll demonstrate your energy, drive, leadership and enthusiasm for excellence in mental health support and social care.
An accomplished communicator, you will have instant credibility when engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and local partnerships and your experience as a senior manager, will enable you to lead, develop, and support and guide your service managers to build positive and effective environments and deliver outstanding quality services.
Experience and knowledge of the Social Care sector is preferred but not essential.

We want someone to lead us on a journey of continuous improvement in the quality of our services, the processes that underpin high quality delivery and most importantly in ensuring better outcomes for the people we support.
The Head of Quality and Improvement is responsible for helping us identify and disseminate best practice through internal training. The postholder will work collaboratively to explore and develop models of best practice to empower our staff to embed this into their ways of working. They will play a leading role in the design, development and implementation of a case management approach across services.
The postholder is responsible for creating audit tools and approaches to review various policies and processes and ensure that these comply with internal, legal and regulatory standards. They will be instrumental in building a culture of high knowledge, skill, transparency and improvement.
The Head of Quality and Improvement will support our services to better report on their impact. They will work closely with Managers to understand the quality assurance and monitoring needs for services, and will work with other teams to ensure that the work of services is accurately shared. The postholder will uniquely sit in both the operations and the services teams to allow for smooth implementation.
This post will play a key role in our National Management Team and will help ensure the efficient running of the organisation. The postholder will support the Senior Leadership Team with special projects that will enhance and support the continual development and improvement of the organisation.

About the Role
Working closely local Community Mental Health services and other referring partners in Edinburgh South, you will support a range of individuals with mental health problems, to find and sustain employment. Collaboration with stakeholders and employers to support clients to find and sustain employment in their desired sector will be an integral part of the role.
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of best practice in mental health provision and/or in the provision of employability and employment services. A working knowledge of IPS would be an advantage, but full IPS training will be provided.
We are looking for initiative, creativity, energy and determination and the ability to motivate, develop and inspire individuals to develop their self-confidence and realise their aspirations. You will be a self-starter, thrive in a multi-agency setting and have an appetite to promote this innovative approach.
As this post will involve travel across the delivery area a full driving licence and access to your own transport is preferred.

About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic story-teller with a talent for writing and a love of social media. As part of our Communications team you’ll help drive forward SAMH’s agenda and vision by creating compelling social content, producing engaging writing and using your people skills to act as the first point of contact for the media. You’ll also support the Senior Communications Officer, Senior Campaigns Officer, and Head of Communications and Public Affairs in their work, including by producing reports for the team on the reach and impact of its work.
What we are looking for
We’re looking for someone who understands the power of the stories, and is passionate about communicating. Ideally you will have experience as a journalist or in a similar communications role, producing copy and social content for a range of audiences. You’ll be able to talk to a range of people and have a keen understanding of how organisations can work with media. Experience of basic design, for example using Canva, would be beneficial, as would experience of creating video content. Most important is that you are enthusiastic and determined to solve any problem you encounter.
