Role

As the Project Officer you will report to the Cargo Bike Senior Project Officer. And as a member of the Behaviour Change team, you will work closely with the Workplaces and Communications Teams to support the development of our cargo bike project in Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to advocate for and create a national leadership programme that will implement initiatives aimed at promoting the use of cargo bikes on a national level, sharing best practices with stakeholders, and serving as the lead for cargo bike-related enquiries and policy responses.

By establishing and maintaining connections with local government, active travel delivery partners, Transport Scotland, and other crucial stakeholders, you will promote and create access to cargo bikes for both new and current users throughout Scotland.

Ensuring an excellent user experience, you will be managing the application process and administration for cargo bike loans including assessing applications, training, in use and post loan support.

The focus of this role is across Scotland. We may occasionally need you to travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About you

You will show enthusiasm and awareness about the use of cargo bikes. Direct technical expertise is not necessary, although a willingness to learn and overall good practical bike knowledge is desirable.

You will have excellent collaborative and communication skills, demonstrated through experience of promoting events and activities.

With this hand on role, you will show effective networking skills, with the ability to create and maintain lasting partnerships.

There is an occasional requirement to transport the bikes between sites, therefore a driving license would be advantageous.

We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans has a long-term commitment to being a charity for everyone - reducing inequality, valuing diversity, enabling inclusion and ensuring all people are treated with dignity & respect.
