The Food Projects Co-ordinator will be hands on and involved in the opening and running of our newly refurbed Kitchen and brand new Community Zero Waste Shop, Community Pantry and Fridge. They will work closely with our Kitchen & Food Projects Manager to produce meals and food, cater for events and external clients, manage and run the Shop and other food projects and activities.

Based at The Pyramid. Evening and weekend working will be required.

Main duties will include:

• General Office administration, answering telephone queries, emails, taking bookings, managing calendar, invoicing and taking payments. Managing shop payments.
• Promote the use of the Hub by maintaining and developing the Hub’s website and social media pages, engaging local media and businesses to maximise marketing opportunities
• Setting up meeting rooms, liaising with café staff around let catering.
• Organise and promote Community events
• Maintain health and safety records, completing weekly and monthly checks of equipment.
• Work in partnership with key stakeholders and to promote the aims and objectives of the organisation.
• Any other task necessary to deliver the aims and objectives of the organisation
• The post holder will also undertake any additional duties as requested by the Hub manager or Executive Board.

The One World Shop was established over 30 years ago and has played a lead role in the Fair Trade movement in Scotland, including helping Edinburgh and Glasgow become Fair Trade cities. As well as running a thriving city centre shop, we have an online shop and we support schools, faith groups and local businesses to learn about and sell fair trade products. We currently employ 7 paid staff and over 20 volunteers. Our aim is to reduce poverty in deprived areas of the world through trading fairly and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting low-carbon living.

We are seeking to appoint a number of new voluntary Management Committee members; we are particularly looking at people with skills and experience in any of the following:

• Retail sales and management
• Business management
• Human Resources
• Finance, funding, ethical investment
• Property, leases, surveying

Board meetings are held every two months in the evening in central Edinburgh or by Zoom.

You will become an integral part of the organisation and our National Development Team. You will work closely with the Senior National Development Officer (SNDO) and the other NDO. Your work will be varied, often complex, sometimes challenging but rewarding and satisfying, knowing that real-world change - legislative and practical - can happen as a result of the evidence, advocacy and persuasion we help provide.
