We are recruiting for a Locality Manager to lead our service provision across the city of Edinburgh and the East.

In Edinburgh this is directly managing Our Visiting Home Service in the Northwest and Southwest of the city as well as overseeing the management of three supported accommodation programmes in the Broomhouse and Pilton areas. The Locality Manager will directly line manager a Service Manager in the city.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Directly manage delivery of the Edinburgh and East service and be service located in the city(potentially from Leith in the first instance)
• Lead service delivery in line with Right There’s aims, values and strategic objectives
• Lead your portfolio with emphasis on best practice, qualitative based outcomes and robust operational controls
• Ensure robust person-centred planning is at the heart of delivery with maintained and accurate support plans recording SMART outcomes.
• Responsibility for service development and excellence leading on the collation and implementation of annual review and improvement programme.
• Take ownership for growth of services under responsibility
• Investigate new opportunities allied to and/or supporting existing service provision
• Support leadership and senior management colleagues develop new service proposals and tenders of new and existing activity.
• Lead the Edinburgh and East delivery teams with a clear focus on delivery performance and outcome attainment
• Lead the teams to deliver great “customer” service and a People First Approach
• Work in partnership with Right There colleagues; promote clear and singular communication
• Embrace a positive working culture working collaboratively, promoting inclusiveness, cooperation, trust and open exchange of ideas to fulfil Right There’s strategic aims supporting line managers and delivery staff to do likewise.
• Accountable for service specific data collection, analysis and regular agreed reporting
• Deliver on service performance, using KPI data to support decision making and planning for current programmes.
• Responsible for upholding the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice and Health and Social Care Standards within your programme.
• Lead the Edinburgh and East services in partnership with key commissioners involved in service review and reporting.
• Take the lead in service delivery matters as they apply to the Care Inspectorate, building positive working relations with respective Inspectorate staff.
• Responsible for compiling and managing the approved annual budgets
• Ensure services operate within financial parameters and targets

What we expect from you

We need you to be qualified to SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare (previously Health and Social Care), SCQF Level 7 or HNC in Social Services. We also need you to be qualified in, or willing to work towards SVQ Level 4 Social Services and Healthcare and SVQ Level 4 in Management, or SCQF equivalent.

We’re looking for someone that has experience of managing a service, with the ability to lead and take ownership and accountability for the programmes. We also need you to have knowledge and experience of working to Care Inspectorate standards as well as having experience of building, leading and managing a team.

What you can expect from us

• The post holder will report to the Head of Operations-Services.
• Your normal working hours are an average of 35 per week. These hours are usually worked Monday to Friday, and flexibly between the hours of 8.00am to 6.00pm, with core hours over the period from 10am to 4pm with one-hour unpaid. Variations to these hours must be agreed with your line manager.
• Your usual place of work will be 26 Leith Walk, Edinburgh, EH6 5AA
• Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours holiday (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata per year in the second. This includes public holidays.

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified candidate who is interested in leading and managing a team of Engagement and Participation Officers to effectively deliver key business objectives related to a range of engagement and participation activities.

Educated to degree level or equivalent you will have staff management experience, preferably within the public sector in the field of health and social care. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop trust and demonstrate empathy and sensitivity to people with different backgrounds.

With excellent IT skills, administrative and planning and organisational skills you will be able to work collaboratively and independently.

Experience of working in mental health either as a nurse or social worker or having a qualification in mental health or community involvement would be desirable.

What Is the Role?

As a member of the Corporate Leadership Team (CLT) and reporting directly to the Director of Service Delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring, within your area of responsibility, that VSS’s strategic objectives are being met, You will have a key role in developing future strategies and initiatives, primarily but not limited to volunteering, that ensure that people affected by crime are supported when, where and how they choose, regardless of where in Scotland they live.

You will have responsibility for all aspects of planning in your area, including staff and volunteers and ensuring that they are skilled, confident, and capable and have everything they need to enable them to effectively support people affected by crime.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

We are looking for someone that has strong leadership experience within a charity or volunteering involvement organisation.

You will possess proven project management skills and excel in both written and presentation abilities. You will have experience of internal and external relationship-building crucial for organisational goals.
