  • Advertised from 17th June 2022

This is a role that’s all about achieving potential. For the people you’ll be working with – young adults with learning disabilities – it’s about discovering more independence and living their best life. For you, it’s about finding a career with incredible impact, personal reward, and bright prospects.

You’ll work with our new transitions services, helping support our service users through a key time in their lives, as they move from the school system and into adulthood. While the day-to-day tasks depend on the service you join – our residential or day centre – you’ll help them take the next steps toward more independent living, across all aspects of their lives. You might be helping create a stable home life, supporting daily activities like washing clothes and preparing meals. Or you could play a part in introducing them to the community – getting out to the shops or going to the cinema. Either way, doing the job well means really getting to know them: looking past their disability to see the person and understand what they enjoy.

Whether you have experience of working with learning disabilities or another area of social care, or even if you’re emphatic person looking to put your people skills to good use, this is opportunity to make a real difference during a crucial period in someone’s life.

As well as our full induction, you’ll have plenty of training opportunities along with mentoring from experienced colleagues. If you haven’t got professional qualifications already, we’ll help you gain SVQ 2 and SVQ 3 qualifications – or SVQ 4, for Senior Support Workers. And with our continued support for your development, you could find a bright future with CrossReach.

That’s because we’re one of Scotland’s largest voluntary social care charities, with more than 1,600 people working across 60 services around the country. A career with us could lead to all sorts of possibilities. Looking after vulnerable families. Getting homeless people off the streets. Helping children outside mainstream education make a better future.

In exchange, as well as a competitive salary, you’ll have a generous pension, health benefits, paid holiday and access to a range of retail and leisure discounts.
