Role
KidsOR is a UK based charity that works with partner hospitals in low and middle income countries to develop high quality, safe surgical services for children.
We work closely with regional Surgical Colleges, the Global Initiative for Children’s Surgery, partner NGOs and national Departments of Health to identify where the existing and/or training children’s surgeons are. We then work with those people and their teams to ensure they have all the equipment they need to properly care for local children.
We also provide scholarships for children’s surgery, helping strengthen local workforces and, in some countries, helping develop the first ever children’s surgeon.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Director of Fundraising to drive growth and diversification in Kids OR income streams, and to provide direction and strategic leadership to the fundraising and communications teams. You will lead a strategy to grow the donor base across all income streams. You will be responsible for building the KidsOR brand awareness and profile at this critical point in our development.
About you
You will be an experienced leader with a proven track record in a similar position, and success in driving fundraising across a diverse range of fundraising streams. You will have extensive knowledge of international development funding, with the networks and experience to drive our funding growth in this area.
You will bring a breadth and depth of experience to the role including –
- Experience at senior level in fundraising
- Appropriate marketing and Communications/PR experience including experience of digital marketing and communications
- Proven track record in leading teams with exceptional ability to lead and motivate a growing team
- Confident, collegiate member of the Senior Management Team who enjoys working together to deliver the vision and strategy

Pregnancy Counselling Care (Scotland) (PCCS) is an Edinburgh based charity that offers material aid and counselling support to families in need struggling with pregnancy or early parenthood.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to drive forward our post-covid recovery and expand our practical and emotional support to families.
As a Director you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills in a leadership role to make a genuine difference to the lives of others.
Our Board of Directors are responsible for:
- Setting strategic direction.
- Providing leadership to staff and volunteers.
- Ensuring effective governance, including financial and risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation and good practice.
Although desired, no previous experience of being a Board Member or experience of the charity sector is required.
You will be inducted into your role by existing Directors and will have the opportunity to meet the staff & volunteer team and visit our Baby Bank in Leith.

For a board director position, we are looking for someone who:
- Is a good communicator and will share ideas and expertise.
- Is committed to our work and is open and empathetic to the experiences of those who access our services.
- Will input into the development of policies and procedures.
- Will act as an ambassador for PCCS.
- Can attend Board Meetings every 6 weeks (held online via Zoom).
In addition, for the role of treasurer, we are looking for someone who:
- Has an understanding of accounts and financial risk management.
- Will monitor the financial administration of the charity through at least quarterly meetings with senior staff.
- Will report to the Board on financial matters.
- Will support staff with effective financial management.
- Will act as a signatory for bank matters including authorising payments.
- Will present the annual accounts at the Annual General Meeting.

Across the UK, and particularly in Scotland, government and local authorities are pledging investment and positive action in the promotion of walking and cycling. In Scotland alone, with significantly increased policy commitments, investment in Active Travel is set to more than double in the next two years, making Scotland the most exciting part of the UK to be involved in Active Travel.
Sustrans works very closely with Central and Local Government, with schools, universities and businesses to make a real difference to peoples’ lives – improving infrastructure, creating Places for Everyone, changing behaviours and developing a culture of inclusivity for everyone to live and travel happily and safely.
The recent promotion of the previous Portfolio Director, Karen McGregor, into the role of National Director for Scotland, has created the opportunity for Sustrans to appoint a new Portfolio Director into the organisation.
The Portfolio Director is a senior level position with responsibility for ensuring that Sustrans Scotland programmes and projects sit accurately within the UK wide Programme and Project Management Framework and that they fit with Sustrans priorities and the external client objectives.
This is an extremely wide-ranging role, working with key stakeholders such as central and local government, Transport Scotland, Active Travel delivery partners and local communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership, expertise, support and guidance to Heads of Programme, promoting greater collaboration and joined up thinking between programmes and functions.
- Set the strategy for all programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
- Work across the organisation to ensure programmes of work perform to key performance indicators and demonstrate impact.
- Provide strong financial management and budgetary control, ensuring appropriate and proportionate governance is applied across all programmes and projects.
- Influence decision makers and partners in Active Travel through policy, consultation and thought leadership in the sector
The successful candidate will have a strong track record and experience of Programme and Portfolio Management, preferably within an infrastructure setting, and of leading and developing high performing teams in complex organisations. Experience of partnering with Central Governments, Local Authorities and a diverse range of stakeholders at a senior level will also be of interest.
It is thought that the individual will likely come with a strong understanding of the political landscape, grant management, operational delivery and the distribution of public funds, with a view to delivering successful infrastructure and behaviour change projects.
