Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team.

The Salvation Army in Edinburgh provides support for people who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple and complex needs. Our role is to provide a safe place to stay or visit with support. The service delivery model is rooted in the harm reduction approach, based on trauma informed practice, strength based and person-centred approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will work to develop trusting, trauma informed relationships with clients, other services and professionals.

• Provide practical and individual support to clients.

• The role involves hosting psychosocial support groups as well as other programme events that are deemed helpful to the client.

As Support Worker will be able to demonstrate:

• Good knowledge of substance use, including expertise in harm reduction approaches as well as openness to work within all models of care.

• Genuine compassion for people in need.

• Ability to build positive working relationships with clients who experience multiple complex needs whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

• Ability to work within appropriate legislation, including data protection.

• Willingness to work towards the qualification required for SSSC Registration.
