Role

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is an independent Scottish charity, whose mission is to be the community of support, kindness and challenge where people can help each other, can secure the expert help they need, and collectively advocate for the care that matters to them. We offer vital advice, support and information to those affected so that they can live the lives they want to live and influence public policy to ensure that people get the services that they need. Our renewed ambition is to become Scotland’s leading organisation for person-centred, user-led community support for people with our health conditions.

CHSS is one of the largest volunteer-involving organisations in Scotland with thousands of volunteers enabling us to deliver our No Life Half Lived Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a volunteering professional to lead on all aspects of our learning and development offer – both for our volunteers and our 150 staff who line manager volunteers across CHSS.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our volunteers and volunteer line managers have the skills, knowledge and development opportunities to thrive in their role – whether that’s through e-learning, in-person training or more informal avenues of support.

We are looking for someone with substantial experience of working with a large number of volunteers, across a wider geographic spread, a keen interest in learning and development and a willingness to keep up-to-date with current theories and practice in this area.

The role holder will work in a blended manner, working from our Edinburgh office and their home.

CHSS employees enjoy a variety of organisational benefits including: Company pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, company sick pay, employee welfare support and life assurance.

In line with our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to a Basic Disclosure check. CHSS is committed to equality of opportunity and to providing a service which is free from unfair and unlawful discrimination. We therefore aim to ensure that no applicant, volunteer or member of staff is unfairly treated on the grounds of offending background.
