  • £26,068 - £28,639 pro rata plus pension. This equates to £21,136 per annum for a 30 hour week. This post is fixed term- funded for 2 years with funding from the Scottish Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

Come and join the team at Cyrenians, developing an exciting new service in the Scottish Borders.

Funding from the Scottish Government’s Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund is providing the opportunity to develop a new Service in the Scottish Borders ‘OPAL Borders’, in partnership with Eildon Housing Association. This is an exciting opportunity supporting Cyrenians to grow their older people’s services.

About OPAL Borders

Cyrenians OPAL (Older People, Active Lives) Borders is a new service, aiming to maintain or increase older people’s independence and wellbeing across the Scottish Borders. The service will offer encouragement, companionship and support to help engage in social, leisure and community activities.

Our partner Eildon Housing Association, offers extra care and sheltered housing with care and support services to help older people live independently and with dignity in self-contained accommodation across their local Borders communities.

About the Role

You’ll be:

· Delivering a range of group work activities for older people

· Supporting older people to live independently and well in their own homes

· Implementing social & leisure activities based on need

· Coordinating & managing volunteers to support their local community and groups

· Liaising with other network providers across the area

· A valued employee who can work autonomously and as part of a team

Instrumental in developing this new partnership

· Creative in your thinking and love trying new ideas

About you

You will be a people person who develops relationships that are person centred. You will enjoy the process of implementing and developing new ideas and creating opportunities for people to come together to benefit their health and wellbeing.

You will listen to needs and be solution focussed.

You will be passionate about the rights of older people.

You will be experienced working within the voluntary sector, recruiting and supporting volunteers

You will be confident working autonomously as the service develops

Experience working with older people is advantageous as is an understanding of Dementia.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office – specifically Word, Excel and Outlook – as well as experienced in the use of database systems. You will be highly organised, have project management experience.

How we’ll support you

This new service and new role will be fully supported by both partner organisations. You will be given full training on all aspects of your role. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.
