Role

Shakti is a feminist Black Minority Ethnic voluntary organisation which offers information, emotional/practical support and refuge/temporary accommodation to all Black Minority Ethnic women and their children, who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse. We currently have the following post vacancies. All posts are based in Edinburgh.

Post is funded by Margin to Centre (Imkaan, Tampon Tax Fund); 35 hours per week, Salary: £23,820 per annum. Fixed term contract until March 2023.

The post holder ideally be a bilingual speaker in one of the following BME community language;

Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Arabic, Cantonese, or Mandarin.

The above post holders will support Black and Minority Ethnic women, their children and young people experiencing and/or fleeing domestic abuse or forced marriage. Applicants ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Black and Minority Ethnic Communities; especially, women, children and young people; an understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding domestic abuse/forced marriage and their effects on Black and Minority Ethnic women, their children and young people.

Applicants must have a minimum of SVQ Level III in Social Care or relevant qualification such as degree in Social Work or Community Education.
