The Digital Financial Inclusion Officer is a new post which will support social research and the co-creation of training and development materials with a view to embedding a Digital Financial Literacy Programme for adults with a learning disability.

A key priority for the role will be to engage people with a learning disability and the people who provide them with support, to ensure that they are fully involved in shaping how digital technology is currently used in day-to-day financial transactions and banking. Reporting to a Programme Board, the post-holder will be tasked with considering how new digital approaches can play a transformative role for individuals, whilst developing a learning needs analysis around financial literacy in a digital landscape.

This role is hosted by Quarriers but works to a Partnership Board that includes the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD), the Scottish Government, and the Fraser of Allander Institute.

We are looking for a self-starter with an understanding of the importance of social research in shaping policy and delivering practical improvements in people’s lives. Ideally, candidates will have experience of facilitating conversations with people with learning disabilities and have managed previous research projects. The role is initially funded for one year.

The role includes the opportunity:

  • To work with senior colleagues across the partner organisations to develop and implement a project delivery plan
  • To help shape our understanding of the practical challenges that people with learning disabilities face in managing their personal finances
  • To co-create with disabled people the practical tools and resources required to manage their personal finances in the digital age

The successful candidate must have a full current driving licence and access to own transport.
