What you'll be doing:
It's an exciting time to join the Philanthropy & Trusts team at Action for Children, and we are looking for collaborative, energised and forward-thinking individuals to join our ambitious team of fundraising professionals.
Action for Children aims to deliver substantial growth from our high value audiences over the next five years, with the Philanthropy and Trusts Team playing a vital role in achieving that ambition.
The two Senior Trusts Officers will be responsible for managing their own pipelines, with one overseeing Scotland Trust Fundraising, and the other focussing on UK-wide approaches. Both roles will work to secure multi-year donations from trusts, foundations, and statutory funders, to deliver a wide range of organisational priority projects and services.
You'll do this by:
- Working collaboratively to deliver an annual 7-figure team target,with a focus on securing four to six figure donations from charitable trusts and foundations for services to be delivered.
- Line managing staff utilising Action for Children policies and procedures to drive performance, including setting and monitoring individual and team objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), taking ultimate responsibility for the delivery of income targets.
- Initiating and developing multi-year partnerships between trusts and foundations and Action for Children to deliver challenging income targets.
- Developing and implementing individual solicitation and stewardship plans for a portfolio of existing trusts and new prospects, to include charitable foundations, across the UK and internationally.
- Developing and implementing a communication and stewardship programme.
- Collaborating with fundraising colleagues to track and report on prospect management activities, maximising opportunities to enrich and develop supporter journeys.
- Taking responsibility for ensuring that all fundraising partnerships with charitable trusts achieve their maximum potential, and that the charity delivers on its commitment to funders.
What we need from you:
- Experience of trust fundraising with a strong track record of initiating new relationships and securing five and six figure gifts.
- Excellent experience of man-management and getting the ‘best out of your team'.
- Experience of managing relationships with Trusts and Foundations.
- Substantial experience of devising and implementing successful fundraising programmes to deliver income growth.
- The ability to manage a complex pool of prospects and donors, devising clear donor solicitation plans with the aim of securing long term financial philanthropic support.
- Experience of creative proposal and report writing, with the ability to demonstrate clear outcomes and impact.
- Experience of preparing budgets for potential funders and for grant reports, with working knowledge of charitable financial accounts.
- A professional solutions-focused approach to making effective decisions, applying critical thinking to weigh up risks and challenges.
- To have a flexible and calming approach to work and willingness to be accommodating over working hours when required.

*Location:Home based - flexible - the Senior Trust Officers can be almost fully home-based anywhere in the UK. The successful candidate will need to commit to coming into the Holborn office two days per month, as this is where the Philanthropy & Trusts team are based.

What we are looking for...
You will collaborate with key stakeholders to explore the views and systems related to the recovery of public sector debt. You will use your research to engage with government nationally and locally to highlight the lived experiences of affected families, to seek fairer policies and commitments that help tackle child poverty.
You will help Aberlour plan and coordinate further campaigning work around the approach to public sector debt recovery.
You will have knowledge of the current Scottish political systems at a local and national level, particularly relating to social justice, anti-poverty and debt recovery policy areas. You will also have knowledge of key policy areas that impact on children and young people, such as the UNCRC and The Promise. You will have experience of writing policy briefings or papers or addressing informed and influential audiences.

Children 1st has been providing financial wellbeing and debt advice to the families we connect with over the past 10 years. We are looking for a Senior advisor to join our team. We have a team that works flexibly to provide support to all families connected with Children 1st through a mix of local delivery in our Services and through a helpline.
Our team works flexibly with families covering debt, financial wellbeing and we are about to develop a fuller approach to energy advice with the creation of 2 energy lead posts. As one of our Senior advisors, you will lead and support our advice delivery. Providing support and supervision to our Money Advisors and offering advice to colleagues across the organisation. This includes our Leadership Team and Colleagues in local Services.
We are looking of someone that has good experience and knowledge in money advice and who is creative and able to support our team ad develop our financial wellbeing support for children and families across Scotland.
The role involves working with the team across Scotland and will involve some planned travel and we have various option in terms of a work base depending on the successful applicant’s location. Our approach to flexible working supports a hybrid approach between work and the Service.
