Role

About the role

Our team is growing, we are looking for two Grant Managers to join our Places for Everyone team.

As one of our Grant Managers, you will have responsibility for the provision of grants and support to organisations developing and implementing active travel infrastructure.

You will lead a team of Grant Advisors (including Senior advisors), while overseeing the management of grants and support used for the delivery of projects from concept through to construction stage. These projects will deliver high impact infrastructure changes across Scotland encouraging more people to make journeys by walking, wheeling and cycling, leading to happier and healthier communities, towns and cities.

You will be tasked with developing and maintaining the grant assessment and management process in liaison with the Heads of Programme, Grants & Support, and other Grant Managers. You will ensure reporting, change control and escalation routes are effectively managed to track and support projects to deliver against scope, timescales and budget.

You will work with the other Managers in Places for Everyone and our Design Engineering and Assurance team responsible for support services ensuring that partner organisations are able to maximise the potential impact of their projects.

Candidates should be based within Scotland with some travel expected to meet with partner organisations and to our main hub in Edinburgh to collaborate with colleagues. Day to day work can be from a nominated hub/office base in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen, or the option to work from home is available.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience in managing large scale projects or programmes in a relevant field, with an understanding of infrastructure project lifecycles from pre-concept to construction and maintenance, as well as the legislative and policy context. You will also have experience of large grant funding programmes, their needs, and processes. In addition, you will be experienced in leading, motivating, developing and managing a high performing team.

You will have excellent communication skills; easily tailoring your style to different levels, allowing you to effectively liaise with partners and build successful relationships.

We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion.
