We are now looking to appoint a Support Group Coordinator to join our Healthcare Advocacy Services Team.
To realise our long-term ambition to make myeloma history, we relentlessly pursue better outcomes for myeloma patients and patients with related conditions through a comprehensive early diagnosis programme, a unique research portfolio, our treatment access strategy, information and support services, and healthcare improvement services.
About the role
The role of Support Group Coordinator is to develop and implement the Myeloma UK Support Group programme in line with the organisation’s overall strategy, building relationships with the Support Group Leaders to strengthen ties with the organisation.
The post holder will be the first point of contact within the organisation for all Support Group enquiries and will have strong leadership and communication skills which are collaborative, and team focused. They will be responsible for working with local groups and other local network partners to increase the reach and impact of Myeloma UK, ensuring that support groups operate in line with quality standards and follow Myeloma UK policies and procedures. This role may require travel across the UK therefore the post holder must be willing to travel and have access to a good transport network.
About You
The Support Group Coordinator will maintain an awareness and understanding of all legislation that may be relevant to the role such as health and safety, general data protection regulation, disclosure checks etc.
Experience in implementing a variety of meetings and events, working with support groups and/or volunteer networks and of increasing the reach, effectiveness and impact of services are essential for this role. You will require to have previous knowledge in project and budget management, partnership working and an understanding of the needs of cancer patients and their families.
The role holder will need to be able to manage their own workload delivering projects within tight deadlines and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will require to have experience of influencing and relationship building skills with great attention to detail and excellent organisation and IT abilities. Previous experience in working with databases and a good understanding of relevant legislation for health & safety and data protection would be an advantage for this role.
