Tiny Changes is Scotland’s first national young people’s mental health charity. We run projects with young leaders that help young minds feel better. The charity was set up in memory of artist and Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison. Through his music and art Scott made tiny changes that had a big impact on people from all walks of life.

We believe that Scotland’s young people deserve great mental health, and we believe in their insight and innovation to make this possible. We exist to nurture the talent of young people to find solutions that work for them.

In three years, we’ve funded 69 innovative mental health ideas - from bubble therapy with refugees to peer-led crisis prevention cafe and d/Deaf youth wellbeing resources - supporting over 4,000 children and young people, with many of them leading change in their communities. The Tiny Changes team is growing all the time. We currently have 6 Trustees and will be looking to recruit another 2 trustees to join the Board later this year. Role Summary

As a freelance operations consultant at Tiny Changes, you will support the interim CEO with the management of all charity and day to day operational activities, continuing the development of the charity in line with organisational objectives and strategic direction. Working closely with our small team, you will contribute to the overall direction of charity-wide operations. Supporting the management of co-production (youth lead projects), fundraising, human resources, health and safety and equality diversity and inclusion, to ensure our processes are up to date, compliant, meet the overall needs of the organisation and reflect our values.

TalkTime Scotland is a unique charity dedicated to supporting young people aged 12-25 who are either physically disabled or have a long-term physical health condition, through free weekly sessions of face-to-face or online counselling. Description of Post

The appointed counsellor will be self-employed and insured and will provide person-centred supportive counselling for between 1-4 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on the number of clients and it is envisaged that this work will be in addition to the counsellor’s current workload. Hours are flexible and are by mutual agreement. The rate of pay is £35 per session. A retainer fee of £35 per week will be paid if no sessions are available.

Location

Clients are seen face-to-face at our base at Norton Park, 57 Albion Rd, Edinburgh EH7 5QY. Ideally, the counsellor would live or work within reasonable distance of this location. Clients may also request online or telephone counselling.

Responsible to

The counsellor will be responsible to the Trustees of the charity.

Confidentiality and Record Keeping

The counsellor will be responsible for documenting, maintaining and storing client records consistent with all legal, ethical and professional requirements.

Essential

• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience of counselling including working with young people.
• BACP/COSCA accreditation.
• Personal organization of external supervision with a suitably qualified counselling supervisor.
• Maintenance of appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
• Ability to work independently and to manage own caseload.
• Flexible approach to working.
• Awareness of issues facing physically disabled people.

Any successful candidate will be offered support in how to work with young physically disabled people and also the opportunity to share experiences through peer support with other counsellors working for the Charity. Scottish Recovery Network are seeking to recruit a Learning and Development Facilitator who will work with colleagues and partners to develop, pilot and embed peer support learning opportunities across Scotland. This person will play a key role in enabling peer support groups and services to train new and existing workers and volunteers. A significant part of the role will be fostering new and existing relationships to create opportunities for practice development and progression in peer support.

You will be confident at all stages of the learning and development cycle; needs analysis, design, facilitation and evaluation.

You will be committed to values-based practice, mental health recovery, peer support and excited by the opportunity to work with others to bring about much needed change in our mental health system.

Moving On Inverclyde is a Centre of Excellence facilitating long-term Recovery pathways for individuals and their families with problematic substance use. Based in Greenock, we offer a four-phase modular programme based around themes of Hope, Change, Motivation and Resilience – and service users can start or exit at any stage relevant to them. These four stages, offer group sessions, key working and one to one sessions as well as peer led activities such as SMART Recovery, Auricular Acupuncture and Yoga and all of which have psychosocial interventions built in.

Treasurer Overview

Moving On Inverclyde’s accounts are produced annually by an external accountancy firm.

Xero Financial software is used to monitor and review budgets and incoming/outgoing costs.

As well as being a board member contributing to general discussions, specifically, the Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing the financial information and advising the board.

• Working with the Service Manager to manage funding input and output.
• Helping to analyse the yearly financial commitment and reserve policy.
• Supporting the Services Administrator to record and submit accounts details if required.
• Monitor and advise the board on the overall financial health of the charity.
• Consult with bank signatories as required and ensure correct practices are in place.
• Board meetings take place on a Monday evening, every six weeks.

Skills and Qualities required.

• Accountancy Qualification
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and finance management (as necessary)
• Good financial analysis skills
• Ability to communicate clearly.
