Role

Strathcarron Hospice is the hub of a specialist palliative care service which serves the people of Forth Valley and Cumbernauld/Kilsyth in North Lanarkshire. Its hallmark is delivering person-centred, holistic care to people with palliative care needs – and to their families and carers. Spiritual and religious care has been an important component of all our services from the earliest days of the Hospice, recognising that illness death and grief are experiences which often trigger important questions and a search for meaning, hope and peace.

We have a vacancy for a Chaplain to join our multi-disciplinary team – to support the provision of religious, pastoral and spiritual support for patients and carers, staff and volunteers.

Applicants should have:

  • a passion, vision and understanding of how best to support the spiritual needs of patients/families receiving palliative care
  • experience in pastoral/ chaplaincy role, preferably in healthcare context
  • an ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of people in difficult situations
  • active membership in a mainstream faith community

The role will enable the successful applicant to expand their knowledge and skills within the unique environment of Hospice Care and to find many opportunities to make a real difference to the experience of patients and their families.
