Are you highly organised and believe that young people should have a say in decision-making that effects
them?
As part of our ongoing efforts to meaningfully include young people and families in how our organisation is operated
we are seeking a highly motivated individual who understands the importance of youth participation across the
whole charity.
‘A Good Childhood’
As part of our commitment to The Promise, ‘A Good Childhood’ is the umbrella term for our efforts to ensure young
people are at the heart of our work, wherever decision making impacts them. Combining youth engagement, work
placements, staff training and pro-active policy review ‘A Good Childhood’ is an ambitious approach to
developing an organisational youth strategy.
About the role
An ambitious approach needs a talented co-ordinator! As the main point of contact for the project you will:
• Coordinate all strands of the project and ensure deadlines and outcomes are met
• Support the planning of training, events and meetings
• Carry out day to day administrative tasks and ensure the smooth running of the project.
As an organised, motivated and trustworthy team player, you’ll ensure that all those working on the project are
working together to achieve the agreed aims.
You will also be an integral link between the staff/volunteers and the leadership team. You will share the
responsibility of ensuring that learnings from the project are communicated effectively across all levels of the
organisation and in turn, decisions made by the leadership team in response to the project are fed back to
relevant stakeholders.
About you
First and foremost you will be highly organised, motivated and able to work independently to agreed outcomes. You
will have experience co-ordinating projects as well as excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
We recognise that you may not have a background in youth participation but an understanding of why working
alongside young people is vital for the organisation’s future.
How we’ll support you
We will ensure a flexible approach to your work combining office-based hours and the opportunity to work from home.
Likewise, we will be flexible in how you achieve your 16 hours per week, should you wish to work two full days
or work selected hours across the full week.
You’ll have an enthusiastic, knowledgeable team of staff and volunteers, and a supportive and experienced senior
manager. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme,
and staff wellbeing services.
About us
At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. We understand that there are many routes into
homelessness, and that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to supporting people towards more positive and
stable futures. That’s why all our work is values-led and relationships-based.
Our values
• Compassion: We believe that everyone should have the chance to change, no matter how long that might take.
• Respect: We believe in tolerance, acceptance, valuing diversity and treating each other as equals.
• Integrity: We are committed to the highest quality of work, grounded in honesty, generosity, sincerity and
professionalism.
• Innovation: We are willing to take risks, challenge convention and be creative in our search for new ways of
working, in particular by taking account of the environmental impact of our decisions.
