Role
St John Scotland is a Scottish charity working to create a caring Scotland where more of us will survive a health crisis to live longer, and better. Our charitable services are delivered by teams of dedicated volunteers across the country, and include community-based CPR training, supporting the provision of Public Access Defibrillators, Patient Transport Services, and Community First Responders. We also support overseas programmes, with current activity including Scottish Government and St John Scotland-supported projects in Malawi, and annual financial contributions to the St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem. As well as being a charity, we are the Scottish chapter of the Order of St John – an order of chivalry of the British Crown whose members have been invited to join in recognition of their service to our charitable aims.
We are now seeking a Finance Manager to join our head office team, based from our office in central Edinburgh.
The role of the Finance Manager is to provide the CEO with the finance, IT and risk management functions of the charity, in support of the Board, HQ staff, Areas volunteer teams in their delivery of all aspects of St John Scotland’s output, both charitable and chivalric, and contribute to the overall strategy and objectives of St John Scotland.
More specifically, the role includes:
• Maintenance of the day-to-day financial transactions of St John Scotland, including purchases, receipts and payments. • Preparation of management accounts and end of year statutory accounts. Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, including internal quarterly reports.
• Oversight of IT and database management.
• Assisting the CEO with Risk Management.

This is a vital and exciting role that will allow the award winning fundraising team at Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) to rethink and change how we use the CRM and the associated processes as we look ahead to the next decade of fundraising.
This multi-disciplinary role will work as part of a small team providing specialist technical expertise to manage the CRM development. You will be responsible for reviewing all existing CRM process to ensure they are appropriate for the new system as well as managing the implementation of integrations with the CRM and third party applications.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the analysis and development of existing processes to support the growth ambitions of CHAS and align with the move to an updated version of our current CRM.
- Research, propose and develop changes to policies, services and processes
- Train and support colleagues in the move to our updated CRM

About you
You will have knowledge of fundraising CRMs and experience in process analysis and change. You will be an excellent project manager and communicator with a proven track record in managing system integration projects.

This job doesn’t come up often. In fact, we’ve never advertised it before. Due to an internal move, we are looking for someone really special to be the CHAS Director of Nursing and Family Support.
In Scotland, three children a week die from a life-shortening condition. CHAS provides unwavering care for children who may die young, and their whole families. Our team includes nurses, doctors, AHPs, chaplains, social workers and a wide range of family support specialists. They work across two children’s hospices, in community settings across the country, and in hospitals alongside NHS staff.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and working hand-in-glove with the Medical Director, you will deliver exceptional care for children and families. You will lead a team of 160 nurses and family support staff working across all parts of Scotland and in multiple settings.
Nursing plays a key role in our care, with nurse specialists involved in delivery, education, advanced practice and organisational leadership. You will inspire our nursing and family support teams to deliver exceptional care in hospice, home and hospital settings. You will work closely and collaboratively with NHS partners, to arrange seamless care.
You will envisage new ways of delivering care and lead teams through change as we implement our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan. You will inspire people behind our vision of delivering excellent care every day.
You will be an experienced nurse leader, confident at working in a multi-agency way. The majority of staff in our multi-disciplinary team are nurses, so you will need to have significant experience of leading nurses and healthcare professionals. You will be professionally registered but don’t need to be a children’s nurse.
We would be keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Detailed understanding of nursing and /or family support alongside significant senior nurse leadership experience
- Experienced in a strategic leadership role, working at or close to board level.
- A track record delivering a high quality of care and championing change in line with a strategic plan, supporting colleagues to think broadly about continuous improvement.
- Strong core management and leadership skills including communication, collaboration, strategic thinking, innovation, planning, mobilisation, reporting, commercial awareness, people and finance management.
We are open to hearing from people from a range of backgrounds. You may be working at or near board level in the NHS, health and social care partnership, or operating at nurse director level in a children’s or adult’s hospice.
The role can be based at any of CHAS’s main sites, with frequent travel to others.
The salary is expected to be c. £98,000, depending on experience, and will be attractive to nurses working at very senior roles in the NHS and other organisations. A higher salary may be provided to exceptional candidates who are already working beyond this level. Membership of the NHS Scotland or Local Government Pension Scheme is provided.
We expect this role to attract interest from Scotland, the UK and internationally so relocation expenses are available.

We have an exciting opening in our Fundraising team for a Community and Events Fundraiser.
You will be responsible for coordinating events and community activities and maximising the income generated from those events as well as by those organised by supporters, volunteers and organisations.
You will support the fundraising team to inspire, develop and co-ordinate increased involvement from supporters, managing new and existing relationships with volunteers, donors, organisations and partners.
Responsible for but not limited to:
- Lead our flagship events with a proactive approach to ensure their success.
- Developing a community and events fundraising plan that will achieve agreed income targets in line with the overall fundraising strategy, review and update this on an ongoing basis.
- Play a leading role in growing event fundraising through externally organised challenge events, established Leuchie organised events and to develop proposals for new events which have the potential to grow and develop.
- Lead and cultivate in growing community fundraising activity and income through supporter-led fundraising, local groups and organisations.
- Leading on the design and distribution of events promotional communications, media and materials, and collaborate with colleagues to co-ordinate these within the parameters of overall Leuchie communication plans.
About you:
Qualifications
- Educated to SCQF level 6 in English and Mathematics, or through equivalent work experience.
- Driving licence or the ability to travel independently to fundraising events.
Knowledge and Experience
- Proven experience of generating income through community and event planning including organisation and delivery.
- Experience of successfully recruiting participants, supporters, and/or volunteers for events and fundraising activities.
- Experience of growing external financial support through excellent stewardship.
- Knowledge of the community, including externally organised events which have the potential to generate income, and local organisations and companies which offer potential funding sources.

Prostate Scotland is a busy active charity working across Scotland to inform, support and advance on prostate cancer and disease. You will play an important role in helping to look after our supporters and fundraisers, assisting with our communications and sending out merchandise to people supporting the charity.
This role will involve:
•Providing support to and administering local level giving and liaising with fundraisers in taking forward activities in aid of Prostate Scotland

•Administering donations and assisting with communications to supporters

The role also will involve helping administer donations and assisting with communications with supporters, along with helping on the development of fundraising materials and plans to promote Prostate Scotland’s work.
Good administrative, IT and digital skills will be important. Prior knowledge of prostate cancer and disease is not required (though helpful) and training about this will be provided.
Occasional travel in Scotland will be required. Management of the post will be from the charity’s Communications and Supporter Care Manager. The post is available on a two-year contract.
