Role

Founded as a Christian Charity in 1983, HealthLink360 [SC000948] is Scotland's leading provider of support to missionaries, aid agency workers, medical relief teams and volunteers who undertake overseas work in challenging and often hostile environments.

Embracing our ethos of 'whole person care for global workers' HealthLink360 provides a unique service offering a comprehensive range of medical, psychological and travel health services both in person, at our Travel Clinic just outside Edinburgh, and online.

HealthLink360 was born out of personal experience, the experience of those who travel internationally to work, often in intense and high-risk environments, only to return home physically or mentally fragile. We provide an expert level of care to our clients before they go, during their assignment and when they return.

For nearly 40 years we have worked with numerous other charities and organisations, including Medicine Sans Frontiers and the NHS Ebola team to prepare their overseas volunteers for assignment.

We employ an experienced team of around twenty doctors, travel nurses, clinical psychologists and counsellors and are regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland. You can read more about us on our website at healthlink360.org

The Roles

Due to careful governance during the pandemic, HealthLink360 is now seeing a steady rise in demand for services. With the retirement of two long-standing members of the board we now want to make two new appointments to the board, who can help guide the future direction of the organisation as we adapt to the post-Covid world of international travel and voluntary service.

To supplement the skills of the existing board members, we are particularly keen to have applications from people whose skills may include some of the following: Financial Management; Operations; Fundraising; Clinical Psychology; Counselling; Charity Work [Overseas or in the UK]. As a Christian organisation we would like to hear from people with an active faith.

Because HealthLink360 is a globally focused charity we enjoy the energy that a diverse team brings to our work, and we are committed to improving diversity amongst our staff, trustees, and supporters. We encourage people from black and ethnic minority communities, as well as those who identify as having protected characteristics to apply for this role.

The role is voluntary and the involves a minimum of four board meetings a year plus ad hoc time averaging around two hours a month. The tenure is normally for four years, renewable for a further four by mutual agreement.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact either Martin Holt [Interim Chief Exec] at mholt@healthlink360.org or Dr Keith Russell [Trustee] at krussell@healthlink360.org
