Role

Barnardo's is working in partnership with North Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) and North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership to deliver a service to children and families affected by alcohol and/or drugs. We aim to deliver a service that is rooted in the Whole Family approach and underpinned by Rights Respect and Recovery, Getting Our Priorities Right and Getting it Right for Every child (GIRFEC).

The project is an early intervention approach designed to work collaboratively with families, as most families already have the resilience strength and capabilities they need to recover. The Project Worker will support and nurture these to ensure both children and adults can overcome any difficulties that get in the way.

We are seeking 2 Project workers to join us in the innovative development and delivery of this exciting initiative and therefore is required to demonstrate a level of experience, skills, and knowledge to carry out key aspects of the role. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with lived experience and educated in Social Care/Early Education.

The post will be co-located with the North Ayrshire Service Access Team and will work closely with the Service Access Team and North Ayrshire Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service (NADARS).

Given the nature of our project, we are particularly keen to recruit individuals with lived experience – either through their own or family members substance use. Comprehensive training will be provided alongside additional support through regular supervision, mentoring and a buddy system where required. For an informal discussion regarding the post please contact Alison Gibson or Fiona Gartland on 01294 558811.

At Barnardo's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our safer recruitment processes mean that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount at every stage of the process and therefore, we adopt rigorous scrutiny in our pre-employment checking. This post is subject to a range of pre-employment checks including a Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure for the successful candidate.
