Role

We are looking for 3 Gaelic speaking freelance artists – a digital storyteller, a film-maker and a podcaster – to join a team of story makers supporting communities to tell their stories.

Scottish Book Trust is a national charity that believes books, reading and writing have the power to change lives. A love of reading inspires creativity, improves employment opportunities, mental health and wellbeing and is one of the most effective ways to help break the poverty cycle. We work towards a Scotland where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive through literacy.

This is an opportunity for three Gaelic-speaking story makers, working in different media, to be part of a creative team hosted by Western Isles library service to support people in the community to make, share and celebrate stories from their lives. This is one of the Community Campfire residencies led by Scottish Book Trust in April and May this year.

These residencies are supported by EventScotland as part of Scotland's Year of Stories 2022.

Scottish Book Trust will recruit the following Gaelic speaking creative practitioners for the Western Isles Community Campfires residency:

Digital Storyteller

Filmmaker

Podcaster

Each of these roles is a freelance post for a total of 4.5 days:

4 days delivery (likely Tuesday – Friday of the week listed above)

0.5 additional day's fee for planning meetings before the residency
