We are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to help ensure that all financial processes are executed on time and to an extremely high standard.

This is a key role within the Finance and Corporate Services team and is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant. The ideal candidate will be a friendly and motivated self-starter with good communication skills and a proven track record of reliability and trustworthiness. You will assist with all the financial transactions of Cycling Scotland and its subsidiary Transport Planning and Engineering, ensure that all relevant guidelines are followed and assist the Head of Finance with preparation for financial year end and annual audit.

This role is based in our central Glasgow office. We are currently operating a hybrid working policy with one day per week minimum in the office.

Hillwood Community Trust is about to complete the development of a new Community Sports Hub that is located in the heart of Greater Pollok in Glasgow. The construction work is due to be completed in June 2024 and we are now seeking to appoint a new Development Manager to manage and develop the facility and associated activities through this exciting phase.

The Trust is currently focussing on two core functions; developing the facilities and supporting complementary activities that will improve the quality of life for those residents in the communities that access our facilities.

The purpose of the post is to lead, manage and deliver our current activities while developing a core team of volunteers to expand and grow activities to meet the objectives of the Trust and meet the needs of the local and wider area.

The post holder will be based at the Trust’s facilities in Priesthill.

About Aberlour Guardianship Scotland

Guardianship Scotland is a specialist statutory service providing Independent Child Trafficking Guardians (ICTG) to all unaccompanied asylum seeking children, victims of trafficking and children vulnerable to trafficking who arrive in Scotland. We deliver this in partnership with Aberlour and Scottish Refugee Council on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The children and young people we help in Guardianship have been through unimaginable traumas. Now, they must cope with being apart from their families in a strange, new country. They face language and cultural barriers, and they enter complex systems which include the welfare, asylum and trafficking processes which are very complicated, and it can be difficult for them to understand.

We support young people to understand these processes, stand by the young peoples’ side throughout these processes, support them to access the help they need and advocate when needed to ensure their views are clearly listened to. Our guardians support the young people to make informed decisions about their future and to settle into a new life in Scotland.

What we are looking for....

We are looking to recruit nine Guardians, 2 based in Aberdeen, 1 in Inverness, 2 in Edinburgh and 4 in Glasgow. This service is Scotland wide, and you will at times be required to travel to other Local Authorities. You will work 37.5 hours per week, these hours will be worked in line with the needs of the young people and service and may include evenings and weekends.

We are looking for candidates who have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 8 and has, or is prepared to work towards, the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner Level 2 Registration.

You will have experience of working with young people and children, dealing with child/adult protection issues, experience of advocacy work, inter-agency and partnership working and a good knowledge or experience of the asylum systems.

Please note our salaries are under review and we await confirmation of our cost of living uplift which would take effect from 1st April 2024.

This is a part-time post working 18.75 hours per week (half time). Hours of work can be worked flexibly although there may be a requirement for some work in the evenings or at weekends. There is a 5% unsocial hours allowance included in the salary to accommodate this expectation.

You can complete work from home or utilise a local office base but you may be required to travel to attend meetings.

What we are looking for...

You will support our Senior Policy Lead through identifying appropriate ways for children, young people and families to share their views and experiences around the impact of public sector debt. Your research will help frame our campaign work and ability to influence stakeholders at local and national government level.

You will have knowledge of the current Scottish political system at a national and local level with awareness of social justice and anti-poverty policy in Scotland and children and young people’s rights such as the UNCRC and The Promise. You will have experience working in the third sector along with skills in research and analysis.
