The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is one of the top four botanic gardens in the world and home to one of the world’s best living collections of plants (13,500 species), a herbarium of three million preserved specimens and one of the UK’s most comprehensive botanical libraries. With specialist expertise and resources built over 350 years, gardens across Scotland, and research and conservation programmes across the world, our aim is to understand, protect and restore the world’s plant species and ecosystems, providing scientific solutions to safeguard our planet for future generations.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data and Operations Officer. This role is based within our Membership and Development team, but you will work closely with the wider Public Engagement, Collections and Science & Conservation teams and with other teams in which fundraising and membership work closely for example Digital, Finance, and Estates and Facilities. You will also closely with the Marketing and Communications team to support the consumer data acquisition strategy, building on the existing marketing database to drive targeted marketing activity and loyalty, and providing regular reports on key metrics.

This is a varied role, and you will manage processes and systems to ensure the smooth running of all development operations, have overall responsibility for data within our CRM system, lead on the preparation of month, quarterly and annual finance reports, work with colleagues to ensure data protection and fundraising regulatory compliance requirements are met and develop and improve overall data efficiency and working practices.

Applicants should have previous experience working in a similar role, you should be highly organised and motivated and can plan, prioritise, and manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst managing other conflicting demands. You should be an assured and confident communicator with the ability to summarise complex information with clarity, brevity, and speed with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity at all times.
