The Preshal Trust is a fast-growing charity based in Govan that has been making a difference to the lives of vulnerable people within the local area for over 22 years. The Trust requires 2 Support Workers with skills and experience to provide support and deliver diversionary activities to vulnerable adults. One Support Worker will be focused on building up contact with our male clients and running activities suitable for that group and aimed at fulfilling their needs. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced manager to oversee the day-to-day management of Cruse Scotland West Area, this includes our teams in Ayrshire & Arran; Dumfries; Dunbartonshire; Glasgow & Greater Glasgow; Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire.

Candidates are required to have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to provide managerial support, which is often provided from a distance.

Excellent communication skills are essential as the postholder is required to respond effectively to a wide range of enquiries which includes bereaved people. You will be required to establish effective working relationships with a range of Cruse Scotland volunteers and staff, as well as statutory funders and grant making trusts. Experience of volunteer management would be advantageous.

Due to the wide geographical spread of the role, the postholder will be required to travel occasionally to each of the service bases within our West Area; and to other locations within Scotland for meetings and training.

Whilst the role can be hybrid, we have recently secured a new office base in Glasgow so there will be a regular requirement to have a routine presence in the office.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

The post-holder will:-

Establish and maintain contact with people affected by homelessness and/or multiple complex needs who use the service. This will necessitate working effectively with people who experience mental and physical ill health, substance dependence, offending, rooflessness and other support needs as appropriate.

Work as part of a team to help deliver an immediate response to individuals seeking assistance with homelessness, benefits, mental health and addiction support and safeguarding concerns, and help alleviate the crisis people are experiencing.

Carry out dynamic and comprehensive assessments of needs with individual clients liaising with, representing and referring to other providers such as homeless casework teams, NHS practitioners, housing, statutory and voluntary services.

Assist with benefits applications and representation at appeals, ensuring clients have access to full benefit entitlement.

Enter into supportive and empowering relationships with clients with the aim of assisting them to tackle the often complex issues in their lives and access the support and services they need to help them at that moment in time and longer term.

Deliver practical support to users of the service (e.g. assisting people with emergency food parcels etc. where required.)

Perform general contact and assessment duties within the service in order to supervise the operation of the service identify needs and communicate with the wider team.

Provide a welcome and assessment of clients coming into the service ensuring health and safety is a priority.

Deliver outreach support to help clients access community-based resources in their own locality.

Attend relevant forums and events and develop sound relationships with other key providers as required.

Monitor and record in a consistent and professional fashion all work carried out on the client’s behalf.

Participate in the ongoing review of service delivery in order to optimize the service's use of resources in order to best meet individuals’ needs.

Carry out any other duties as required by the management of The Marie Trust.

We are looking for a Housing Officer to join our Bethany Homes team on a part-time basis in Aberdeen.

As Housing Officer, you will ensure the efficient outworking of tenancy management functions across 3 Bethany owned flats in the Torry area of Aberdeen, including letting, inspecting and management of properties, whilst helping to meet occupancy targets, working closely with the tenants to provide the highest level of care, deal with the day to day issues of housing and property management, including supporting the tenants with rent and maintenance issues, thereby maximising rental income and providing administration support as required.

As part of the wider Bethany Homes Team, you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the ability to work on your own whilst prioritising your workload. You will have experience and knowledge of the service user group and their surrounding issues relating to homelessness, as well as having housing/letting management experience. Competence in the use of Microsoft office tools is essential.
