Role

Oxgangs Care is a charity committed to the welfare of older people, providing services located within a residential community in southwest Edinburgh. The service has a remit to develop and deliver services for older people offering group social interaction and one to one befriending, focussing on social support to promote independence and physical and mental wellbeing. We provide:

  • A Centre based day service operating 3 days per week (Weds to Fri). This service is registered with the Care Inspectorate.
  • A Volunteer Befriending service operating 4 days per week (Tuesday to Friday).

Job Details

We are looking for a motivated individual to supervise a small team of 3 Support Workers and support the manager to develop the service. In the absence of the Manager, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Administrator and Befriending Co-ordinator.

You should have good communication, written and assessment skills and relevant experience to supervise staff. This experience may be actual supervision of staff or, extensive experience in social care and are looking to move to a post with more responsibility. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and access relevant training. You will also have access to a Contribution Pension scheme.

Qualifications

As the service is registered with the Care Inspectorate you are expected to have sufficient experience and qualifications to be suitable for the role of Assistant Manager. You are not required to be registered with SSSC but, you should preferably, hold an SVQ3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and in addition be working towards the Supervisors’ qualification. If you do not hold a full relevant qualification as indicated above, you will be required to achieve it when in post. Oxgangs Care will fund your training.
