Arabic Speaking Therapeutic Support Worker (28 hours)

Role
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering ERCC’s specialist therapeutic support and advocacy to Arabic speaking women and all members of the trans community aged 16 and over in Edinburgh, Forth Valley ( including survivors living in Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire) and Moray who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives, including, rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse or commercial sexual exploitation. The post-holder will take an approach informed by an understanding of trauma, including complex trauma. The post-holder will be required to work across the different functions of the service including initial assessment, short and long term support and text/email support. The post-holder will be based in Edinburgh but must be able to travel weekly to Forth Valley Rape Crisis centre and occasionally to Moray Rape Crisis Centre. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
The post holder will be supported by ERCC’s SIA project which is a dedicated outreach support service for BME women, non-binary and trans survivors of sexual violence and FEM project partners. The role will also include service development and joint working with statutory, third sector and community organisations.

Experience of delivering emotional therapeutic, practical support and advocacy services to women and/ young people affected by trauma is essential, alongside experience of assessing and responding to risk in relation to sexual abuse and exploitation. Young Persons Support and Trauma Worker

Our DAYS Service supports all young people of any gender aged between 8 and 18 who live in Dundee or Angus and have experienced any type of sexual abuse.
We take a flexible approach to planning support to best meet the needs of the young person, this can be school, home, community or at our office. We offer a variety of support for young people and are led by the individual.
1:1 Support - We offer emotional support to survivors. Each session is a safe and confidential space for survivors to process the trauma they have experienced at their own pace. We do this by using a range of therapeutic interventions and tools which are survivor centred.
Group work support - We various creative groups and peer support groups all of which aims to reduce isolation and extend social circles. The aim of these are to build survivors support networks and build survivors confidence, reducing isolation and feelings of blame and shame.
We are seeking an individual who demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of trauma on young people and age-appropriate support tools / methods and can provide and has significant experience of providing trauma-based models of support to young survivors.
