About the role?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team to support us on the delivery and development of a unique new contract in Scotland, Scottish Social Security Advocacy. This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be passionate and committed to developing a robust volunteer service in Scotland that supports advocacy delivery.

What will you do?

• Drive the inclusion of volunteers within the Scottish Social Security Advocacy contract to meet our organisations exacting standards

• Develop and deliver a volunteer programme, that supports advocacy delivery and meets the needs of people accessing this service.

• Lead on the development of a safe recruitment, training, and support structure for volunteers

• Utilize volunteers’ skills and experiences that demonstrates our values and meets the SLA.

• Provide supervision and wellbeing checks to volunteers to nurture resilience and personal development

• Ensure a culture of continuous improvement and development for our volunteers to support retention, investment, and organisational goals.

• Encourage and implement innovation, leading to improved service and business performance.

• Share learning with colleagues across the organisation and to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and other volunteer organisations, to maintain VoiceAbility’s presence in the voluntary sector.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about and recognises the added value that volunteers can bring to an organisation. You will have the ability to manage and train volunteers from diverse backgrounds with varied life experiences, ensuring that an environment of safe practise and support is embedded within volunteer practise and standards.

You will be confident in driving the volunteer agenda within the organisation and in raising its profile with commissioners and other key organisations/professionals. You will operate effectively and efficiently to meet budget requirements and work alongside the Operations Manager to address any issues, concerns, or areas for financial improvement. You will demonstrate an effective marketing profile and lead on identifying potential areas for volunteer growth within the area.
