Who are we looking for and why work at Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS)?
At CHS we recruit, train and support empathetic and committed volunteers across Scotland. Our volunteer roles are Panel Members and Area Support Team (AST) members.
Our 2,500 volunteer Panel Members take part in children’s hearings in their local areas, making decisions with and for infants, children and young people. Our organisation also supports a network of 22 Area Support Teams made up of 400 volunteers who support Panel Members in their local communities.
We’re looking for someone who can provide practical data protection advice to the organisation in a supportive way, and deliver high-quality responses to statutory information requests received by CHS. Our Information Governance Records Officer will combine knowledge of relevant legislation and how this is applied in a Public Body setting with strong analytical skills and a customer focus.
You’ll work closely with our Information Governance and Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with relevant information and records management legislation and support CHS to manage existing and emerging data protection risks effectively. A detail-focussed approach is key, as is the ability to deliver the role in a thoughtful and calm way. Clear and careful communication and the desire to deliver high-quality work are fundamental to this post.
Information Services at CHS
Records management, information governance and the statutory information request service sit within a small, focussed team at CHS. As a team, we provide a range of services, structures and support to the organisation concentrating on aspects of information, assurance and performance. The need to ensure that the work of CHS as a public body is well-informed, appropriately documented and delivered in a way that is legislatively compliant is forefront for us as we deliver our work and support and advise our colleagues.
Our information governance and records management work is a mix of active management of risk, responsive provision of knowledgeable advice and resolution, and development and improvement work. Carrying out these functions will bring you in to contact with people and functions from across our whole organisation – staff, volunteers, our Board, and Local Authority Clerks – and we are committed to ensuring learning from one area is spread and used elsewhere.
Building effective working relationships and gathering a strong understanding of the diverse activities within CHS are important building blocks to how we deliver our work.
