Role
Based near Ayr, this dynamic organisation, an independent charity promotes energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transport in the domestic, community and business sectors throughout South West Scotland.
The Energy Agency has held the contract to manage the Home Energy Scotland advice centre for South West Scotland since 2008. This is part of a Scotland wide network of centres, funded by the Scottish Government and via the Energy Saving Trust.
Home Energy Scotland south west covers the local authority areas of North, South and East Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway.
The Energy Agency delivers a variety of other contracts, including Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland: Area Based Schemes for local authorities in south west Scotland and education work covering all aspects of advice on energy efficiency, micro generation and sustainability in North, South and East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

Primary Purpose: The post of the Home Renewables Officer will form part of an existing team delivering effective and informative advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy and transport energy to householders. In addition to general advice, the role will also involve assisting householders to identify, evaluate and install micro-renewable and other microgeneration technologies to realise associated carbon savings as well as assist with hard to treat properties.
The Home Renewables Officer will be based at the Energy Agency and will promote microgeneration messages in Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

Main Job Activities
1. To be a subject expert:
Understanding the rules, laws and regulations within the relevant subject area.
Review and highlight key information to colleagues from relevant literature, journals, and reports.
Identify areas of improvement for the organisation’s advice service, working with colleagues to implement strategic development plans.
Support relevant marketing and media activities.
2. To influence the operational processes associated with the relevant subject area:
Identifying and implementing key improvements across both advisor and customer journeys.
Strong depth of understanding related to enquiry patterns and trends.
Planning and horizon scanning to provide the most up-to-date information for our advisors.
3. Identify and develop collaborative partnerships with stakeholders within the subject area:
Partnership working with organisations we are currently engaged with, in addition to establishing possible new partnership opportunities with those we are not.
Monitoring, understanding, and responding to external consultations and changes within the relevant subject area.
4. Prepare and brief both senior colleagues and external stakeholders as required:
Regular development of reports and written briefings.
Inform and collaborate with our internal training department to influence training content.
Support advisory staff when required, providing subject specific guidance.
5. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by Line Manager.
As the Executive Officer at Forth Valley Advocacy you will join us at an exciting time in our development as we continue to deliver a recently extended contract for Independent Advocacy services in the Forth Valley area, currently extended until October 2024 with the option of extension to October 2025. This is a crucial post which will allow Forth Valley Advocacy to continue to provide high quality and person led Independent Advocacy services across the Forth Valley area.
As the Executive Officer, you will manage a team of energetic and enthusiastic Advocacy Workers, Team leader and Service Adminstrator. You will build strong partnerships with our funders, our referrers, external organisation, local communities and our colleagues in the NHS and Local Authorities. You will be the public face of Forth Valley Advocacy.
You will report and be accountable to the Chair and the Board of Trustees.
You will bring enthusiasm and leadership skills to the organisation during this exciting period of growth.
At present our office base is in Falkirk but hybrid working arrangements are in place, allowing for some working from home.

About the role
Legal Advisors at Freedom from Torture deliver expert, detailed, advice to treatment clients and their clinicians on all areas of asylum and immigration law. There is a particular focus on complex, appeals rights exhausted cases where there is a risk of detention, and on supporting clients who are unrepresented. Legal Advisors review evidence produced by clinicians for use in clients’ asylum and immigration cases, ensuring that it complies with the standards required of a professional witness. Legal Advisors are also responsible for delivering internal and external training on a range of legal issues affecting torture survivors within the immigration and asylum system in the UK.
We are seeking to recruit a Legal Advisor for our Glasgow centre, who is a Scottish qualified legal professional with experience of advising on immigration and asylum matters within the Scottish legal system, and who could attend our Glasgow centre at least once every fortnight.
About you
You will be a legal professional qualified to practice in Scotland, with expertise in immigration and asylum law, particularly in relation to the legal protections available to survivors of torture. You will have experience of advising and representing clients in the Tribunals and Courts, including in judicial review claims. You will be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with people who have experienced trauma, and will be able to build professional relationships with a variety of colleagues both internally and externally. You will share our commitment to working with and empowering people who have experienced torture.
In return, we offer a competitive package, with a generous 30-day annual leave entitlement, and 6% employer pension contribution (minimum 1% employee contribution).

Our policy is that all appointments will be at the start of the salary range but successful candidates will have the opportunity to move up the scale over time. The progression up the salary range is reviewed on an annual basis and subject to affordability. For this role, the salary range is £47,655 - £54,445 pro rata per annum.
