In-work poverty is one of the key challenges we now face in addressing poverty in Scotland. The Poverty Alliance are recruiting for an exciting new role, an Employer Learning Officer, as part of a team looking to support employers to develop new approaches to address in-work poverty. ‘Serving the Future’ is a new collaborative project, delivered in partnership with The Fraser of Allander Institute and the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Future at University of Strathclyde and funded by the Robertson Trust.
This role will lead on facilitating a program of Action Learning focused on engaging with employers in the hospitality sector to help develop new responses to in-work poverty. It will be responsible for maintaining engagement with employers, designing, and facilitating Action Learning Sets, and supporting the implementation of outcomes.
The role will be part of team of researchers working collaboratively with businesses and utilising evidence and innovation to make change. It will suit an individual who has a background in facilitation and learning, with experience of working with diverse stakeholders, including business and social enterprise. The post holder will have strong communications skills and a clear commitment to social justice and tackling poverty.

Children & Family Worker

We are looking for a family worker to deliver sessions, clubs and activities for our children, and families. The delivery will be varied and will always be driven by the needs of the community.
You will also be responsible for working on trips and holiday programs.
There will also be the remit of devising and implementing new projects and clubs as guided by funding requirements and service user’s needs.
You will work in partnership with local organisations and schools and build up strong positive community links.
The Base is a place based project your will be expected to work alongside and supporting local volunteers.
You will work to enhance the lives of local children by ensuring activities are provided to develop their mental, emotional, physical and social well-being needs.
You will also be committed to ongoing personal development and undertake training or other professional development activities as required.
All other reasonable duties will be required to be undertaken as and when required and agreed with the Project Manager.

The Poverty Alliance are recruiting a Living Wage Project Assistant to support delivery of our highly successful national programme: Living Wage Scotland.
Living Wage Scotland was launched in 2014 by the Poverty Alliance to increase the number of employers that are recognised for paying their staff the real Living Wage. It is a partnership with the Living Wage Foundation, with Scottish Government as a key funder.
The Living Wage employer movement has grown to now over 3500 employers in Scotland, and over 14,000 across the UK. We have since expanded our engagement with employers on additional schemes that support fair work, namely Living Wage Places, Living Pension and Living Hours.
We are seeking a Living Wage Project Assistant to support our employer engagement, marketing and communications activities that contribute to the growth of the Living Wage employer movement in Scotland.
The post will suit a creative individual who has experience in creating written copy and social media content in a professional setting, has excellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding organisation and prioritisation abilities but also a strong commitment to achieving social justice and a desire to tackle in-work poverty.
Responsibilities will include supporting internal and external communications activities, maintaining our website and social media platforms, contributing to the development of digital and print assets and materials relevant to the project aims (case studies, web materials, articles, promotional resources), supporting events (virtual and in-person), and supporting the delivery of Living Wage Scotland’s communications strategy.
The role will involve close collaborative work within a small team, and direct engagement with our growing network of accredited Living Wage employers.
