Are you interested in joining an award-winning Scottish charity whose aim is to provide support to people whose lives are affected by mental ill-health? Our Public Affairs and Communications team in Support in Mind Scotland (SiMS) is looking for someone with a passion for tackling mental health and experience in using online and social media channels.

We are looking for someone to use their skills and experience in digital communications to make an impact on the way Support in Mind Scotland communicates, within the organisation, to our membership, externally to public, external stakeholders and to the people we support.

SiMS provides support throughout Scotland and offers a range of services to people directly affected by a mental health issue and to those who care for them, whether family, friends or supporters.

We are committed to delivering services shaped by the lived experienced of people affected by mental health. We believe in a holistic approach to providing support and aim to empower our service users to make the best use of what help and support is available to them.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for managing a range of responsibilities to achieve outcomes based on national plans for ensuring that digital communications supports and develops the public affairs and communications’ work across the organisation. Working alongside the public affairs and communications’ team, the role will offer you an opportunity to work with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, with a team of two others, to develop plans and strategies to ensure that SiMS remains up to date and adaptable to the fast-paced changes in the digital communications’ environment; and to support fundraising with creative and engaging campaigns that will increase our income.

You will have the chance to ensure that every part of SiMS’ services are involved in developing and promoting the organisation’s digital presence and ‘tone’ to reach further into our communities to challenge stigma, raise awareness of SiMS services and offer support and signposting.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge and experience of web content management and social media channel platforms. Someone familiar with digital design and marketing software and delivering high-quality design and branding. In particular, you would need to have familiarity of Hootsuite and other social media scheduling tools. You would be someone that works well in a team and autonomously. It would be beneficial if you had a knowledge of mental health issues and policies. We are looking for someone that is creative, dynamic, with an ability to drive positive change and recognises the importance of professional support and supervision. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the charity and are a “Happy to Talk Flexible” Employer: The post is 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week and permanent, but we would consider other working times. Currently the job is homeworking, but the expectation is that attending national office in Edinburgh would be the norm for the future, perhaps with a blended approach of online and office based work.
