Are you passionate about supporting young people with their school studies to support their educational attainment in a community based setting?
Govan Community Project is looking for a Homework Club Assistant to support a new development to provide support to children of secondary school age in the Mossheights are of Cardonald.
Based at our community flat, Homework Club was set up to support children and families from the asylum and refugee community to understand and engage with the Scottish education curriculum, particularly where language barriers mean parents are not able to provide support.
You will provide a safe and welcoming environment where secondary school aged students can access support and a quiet space to focus on homework tasks and study sessions when required. Sessions for older children will be a combination of homework support and issue based support.
If you are skilled and experienced in working with children and young people and have an understanding of the additional attainment challenges for New Scots families, then we would love to hear from you.
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in engaging with and supporting children and young people in either educational or community work setting, and have a commitment to the health and wellbeing of children. You must be able to commit to regular early evening and weekend working.
