Role profile

The Training Lead is a new exciting post, and is an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) within Money Advice Scotland. The main purpose of this role is to create a new programme of money advice training as well as to manage, lead and inspire the Money Advice Scotland training team in our goal to raise the quality and standards of money (debt) advice in Scotland by delivering engaging, informative, and quality training.

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer

Key responsibilities

  1. Create a new, up to date programme of debt advice training and also review existing training materials produced by third parties to determine appropriateness and relevance
  2. Liaise with our customers and internal departments to gain an understanding of training needs; assess training to develop and produce innovative training solutions that include web-based seminars, printed manuals, group sessions, training videos, and more
  3. Lead, inspire and develop the Money Advice Scotland Consultants team to empower and enable them to do their jobs to the best of their ability
  4. Present in-person and online training sessions and higher qualified personnel as and when the need arises.
  5. Monitor training programmes and manuals to ensure that they are effective and up to date and make updates as necessary
  6. Work with managers to address any learning issues, instruction problems, or new educational needs
  7. Maintain understanding of new educational and training techniques and methods
  8. Manage budgets
  9. Monitor and evaluate training programme’s effectiveness
  10. Other relevant tasks as required

Essential Skills

  1. Strong knowledge of Scottish debt/money advice in order to create appropriate training
  2. Exceptional communication and leadership skills that allow you to manage, lead and inspire your team
  3. Ability to think strategically
  4. Proficient in using Microsoft Office products, Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  5. Ability to build relationships and fully engage with various management teams
  6. Track record in designing and executing informative, engaging and successful training programmes
  7. Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc.)
  8. Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively

By creating and managing Money Advice Scotland’s debt advice training courses, you’ll engage with key audiences, and be an important part of ensuring that people in debt receive quality debt advice.
