We are looking for motivated, organised individuals with a passion for women’s rights to join our Advocacy Team

As an exciting new partnership service between Deaf Links, Perthshire, Dundee and Angus Women’s Aids, the Violence Against Deaf Women Advocacy Worker will deliver a dedicated advocacy service to Deaf women across Tayside who have or are experiencing any form of violence, abuse or coercive control.

The post holder will work directly with Deaf women, their children and young people offering crisis intervention, information, advocacy services and support to enable equal access to mainstream support services. The Violence Against Deaf Women Advocacy Worker will also provide information sessions to Deaf women and raise awareness of BSL and Deaf Culture with mainstream service providers.

Fluency in BSL, experience of delivering information sessions, and understanding the barriers facing Deaf women is essential. The Violence Against Deaf Women Advocacy Worker will need to liaise closely with statutory and other voluntary organisations, undertaking a range of advocacy services which will include empowering, informing, enabling and representing service users in a variety of settings.

This post is funded by Delivering Equally Safe until Sept 2023.

Knowledge of BSL to at least Level 2 or first language BSL is essential for this post.

Own transport is required for both posts for which mileage will be paid.

These posts will require the applicant to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG update check for both types of regulated work – work with children and work with protected adults.
