As our Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will work in partnership with the Carrick Academy and Girvan Academy school communities in South Ayrshire, with an outward facing priority towards community collaboration ensuring that the young people are provided with therapeutic and emotional support, high quality clinical practice and delivery of a full and effective service. This includes undertaking clinical assessments and formulations.
This is a new role which is embedded within the local community, as such the successful candidate will be highly motivated and flexible, to help develop an innovate service across Carrick and Girvan community in collaboration with the schools and our staff in those schools. A key part of this role will be identifying and building effective links with the local community, including statutory and third sector partners, who work with young people in the area. Evening work and travel to both school communities, is expected.
You will receive referrals from our community partners, undertake clinical work with young people and possibly provide Place2Be services such as Place2Talk, Place2Think and Parent Partnership interventions as agreed with the Area Manager, and school based Mental Health Practitioners within each school. This work may take place in a school or community setting during business hours. Input to community groups will take place in evenings.
You'll ensure high quality clinical practice and delivery of a full and effective service, by undertaking clinical assessments and formulations, identifying and delivering appropriate clinical interventions for young people, establishing positive, active and effective relationships with the school and community partners and Place2Be management team and actively participating in staff meetings to share best practice and develop clinical thinking, knowledge and learning.
About You
The successful candidate:
Will have a recognised counselling or therapy qualification with substantial post-qualifying experience, along with a good knowledge of the school environment.
