Shared Parenting Scotland is seeking a part-time Digital Marketing and Communications Manager to help a small national charity tell the world about why shared parenting is good for children.

The appointment is initially for six months at 2 days/week, extendable if funding becomes available.

We already helps around a thousand separated parents every year to achieve shared parenting and cope with the many legal, social and practical problems that confront them.

We hold support meetings across Scotland, have a series of lively WhatsApp support groups, support the parents and other family members who contact us on our phone and email helpline and publish lots of information on our website

Around fifty family lawyers from across Scotland help us by attending support meetings and answering legal questions, and we also interact with a wide range of parenting and family support organisations in the statutory and voluntary sector.

We have developed a range of online courses and are about to run a Scottish pilot of a coached online training programme that is already widely used in the USA, Canada and Australia.

This new post is intended to fill a key gap in our service – we need someone who understands how to:

  • Design and implement an inbound digital marketing strategy
  • Oversee and manage all organic social channels and assist with community engagement
  • Conceptualise and guide the design of a rich, engaging content calendar and orchestrate its dissemination
  • Carefully design and track analytics to know what approaches to discard / double down on
  • Establish ways for us to analyse existing information from enquiries and service users to help in promoting what we achieve and provide what people really need
  • Assist a lively small national charity to move further into the digital age so that we can give even more help to separating parents (and understand what the above terminology means!)

This post will develop our understanding of what users of our service really want, optimise our online messages and make them easier to find and more understandable.

There are about 30,000 family separations in Scotland every year – we want to find ways to reach more of the separated mothers and fathers who need help in continuing to be fully involved with the care of their children.
