Role

Home Support Lead

Children's Hospices across Scotland (CHAS) are looking for a dynamic, values-driven individual to lead our volunteer home support service in east and central Scotland. This an exciting opportunity to be involved in an innovative service for the families of children with life-shortening conditions. Home support involves volunteers visiting families in their homes to provide practical household tasks for families and practical support for siblings including play, arts & crafts, help with homework etc. Volunteers help out at home, giving parents time to be parents and to focus on their families as well as having some valuable time to themselves.

Based at Rachel House in Kinross or Robin House in Balloch, in addition to some home working, you’ll be responsible for managing volunteer matches. If you have experience of working with children & families, service and volunteer management and are excited by the prospect of improving the quality of life for families supporting a child with a life-shortening condition, we’d love to hear from you.

About CHAS

At CHAS, our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland who is living with the heart-breaking prognosis that their child is dying, and offer them our care and support to empower them to make the most of the short time they have together. As Home Support Lead, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

At CHAS staff and volunteers work together as one team, focused on the common goal of reaching every family in Scotland who needs our support. We have a 3:1 ratio of volunteers to staff members in CHAS. All CHAS staff will at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.
