We’re Railway Children, an international charity working to create long-lasting change for street-connected children
and young people in the UK, India and Tanzania. Founded in 1996, we’ve dedicated over a quarter of a century to
developing outstanding practice and services for vulnerable children and their families. As we embark on our new
strategy to 2027, we have ambitious plans to ensure no child is left behind, wherever we work.
About the role
We are looking for 1 Youth Practitioner for our Glasgow Project and are keen to receive applications from those
living in Greater Glasgow and North Lanarkshire.
As a Youth Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in keeping children safe from harm and supporting them and their
families on a path to a brighter future. You’ll be part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s
programme in the UK, in partnership with British Transport Police (BTP).
Working with other Youth Practitioners in your project area, you will be responsible for supporting a number of young
people who have been identified as being vulnerable on the transport system. The role will involve working
directly with young people and their families to reduce risks, as well as building strong relationships other
social care, Police, third sector agencies and local services in the area.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who has worked with vulnerable young people and families, with an in-depth understanding of
the issues they face and the impact of trauma. With a relevant qualification in youth work or social care,
you’ll have experience of providing front line support to safeguard some of the most vulnerable young people in
the UK. You’ll have the ability to engage young people, their parents or carers within the community and deliver
direct support to address issues within the family unit.
