Age Scotland is the national charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of everyone over the age of 50 so that they can love later life.
We support and enable hundreds of community and older people’s groups across Scotland. We provide information, friendship and advice through our free helpline and publications. We tackle loneliness and isolation with our Friendship Line and much more.
We work in Scotland with older people’s groups who provide vital activities and services for older people in their local community. We campaign on the issues that older people tell us are important to them.
Our Community Development team are looking for two part-time Ethnic Minority Community Development Officers to:
§ Empower Age Scotland’s ethnic minority older people’s member groups by providing information, resources and by overcoming language and cultural barriers
§ Support Age Scotland to strengthen our understanding of the key issues that are important to ethnic minority older people
§ Support Age Scotland to ensure our services and activities are accessible and meet the needs of ethnic minority older people
§ Using a Community Development approach, co-ordinate the delivery of a programme of national and regional networking, training, and engagement opportunities for Age Scotland ethnic minority older people’s member groups.
§ Raise Age Scotland’s profile, recruit new members and connect member groups to Age Scotland’s services, offers and activities.
§ Support the development of a team of Age Scotland National Ambassadors.
Both of these posts will be home based, therefore the successful candidates will be required to have a suitable work space and furniture with a good broadband connection. IT equipment will be provided.

Due to the Covid outbreak in the UK, we have adapted our way of working in an effort to ensure the ongoing delivery of services, while minimising risk to our employees. Depending on guidance from the Scottish Government regarding the lifting of lockdown restrictions, this role may initially be completely home based, incorporating face to face contact when it is safe to do so.
