Role

withYOU is a large provider of social care across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Established 32 years ago as a care provider, and an independent charity since 2018, we have supported thousands of people.

Our services cover a broad range of social care areas, but have a unifying focus around ensuring those we support are able to have a safe, secure place to stay, and wherever possible are able to maintain their tenancy.

We work with people 18+ and our service models are predominantly housing support in core and cluster. We also provide outreach services and we have a number of 24/7 supported services, including homelessness hostels.

Our services cover:

  • Homelessness
  • Mental Health
  • Older People
  • Learning disability and neurodiversity.

We have an annual turnover of £7m and employ 250 multi-skilled staff. We are now embarking on a full scale transformation of our organisation, which is exciting and ambitious. As part of this transformation, we have a new Senior Management Team and a refreshed Board of Trustees to guide the organisation through the opportunities that lie ahead. As part of this journey, we will collaborate and co-produce with the people we support, updated organisational values and we anticipate a re-brand and a new organisation name.

About the role

As Head of Services, you will join our new Senior Management Team and lead our team of talented, hard working Service Managers. The Head of Services role is initially for a 6 month period, and may be extended subject to operational plans and funding. As part of the responsibilities of the role, you will support the SMT and Board to develop staffing restructuring plans for services, to ensure we support our staff and deliver excellent quality care. There may therefore be opportunities for the post-holder to remain with withYOU in a permanent role, dependent on the outcome of the restructuring activities.

The role will require solid experience of change management, and a fundamental knowledge of social care and the social care landscape. The ideal candidate will come from a Social Work, Social Care or Health background and be a very experienced manager or Senior Manager.

Leadership qualities and the ability to get to grips with the day-to-day operations of our services is important, as you will be spending a lot of time with our Services Managers within our services, supporting them to develop as managers and leaders, and focusing on quality of provision as well as service development, consolidation and growth.

Ideally you will have an entrepreneurial, development mindset and take others with you on a journey of success.

Why Apply

Although this is a fixed term contract, we believe this is an opportunity that would make a significant contribution to someone’s learning and career development. There is also the opportunity for this to be extended or made permanent, depending on the outcome of the change activities.

We’re looking for someone who is motivated by change and loves a challenge, who is kind, respectful and genuinely wants to support others on a journey of transformation.

In return, you will receive excellent support from a new and equally motivated Senior Management Team and Board, you will be supported to develop and entitled to the following benefits:

  • 6% pension contribution from the start of your employment (and not after three months)
  • 2 x salary death in service benefit
  • 24/7 access to online GP appointments if needed (free of charge)
  • Paid qualifications inline with your development plan.
