Could you be our next Network Coordinator for Ayrshire? Working together with our other Ayshire Network Coordinator, you will play an important role supporting local community groups and projects involved with grass roots change in Ayrshire. You will be part of and supported by a wider team of network coordinators across Scotland who are leading on the development of community climate action networks and hubs.

You will work with local community-led organisations to provide ongoing support to civil society / third sector / community led groups, ensuring structures and processes for peer support and sharing of experience and learning between groups are established and maintained. Through this, you will work with their local communities to establish a Local Implementation Group to explore options to structure future networking and develop an application for Scottish Government funding to host a regional Community Climate Action Hub.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Network Engagement team, engaging with community groups and the wider public, to promote and connect with the National Cycle Network (NCN) and any new infrastructure project.

Reporting to the Network Delivery Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting our engagement and delivery teams to ensure more people and engaged with the NCN.

You will build and manage databases of community groups, key individuals, and interest groups, co-creating and maintaining community stakeholder mapping with colleagues across the team, developing relationships with communities and individuals.

Duties will include offering creative input when designing, planning and delivering engagement activities. You will also compile reports and case studies of the engagement activities and promote other community support offered by Sustrans Scotland

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About you

You should have experience of planning and delivering activities around community engagement, with the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in writing case studies and report writing.

The Emergency Response Operations Manager will lead the delivery and recovery of operational emergency and crisis response activity across the country. A standard bearer for quality and excellence in operations required to enable local activity, lead national crisis responses, coordinate assets from across the BRC, and evolve our offer to current and future needs to ensure effective support to those in crisis.

Critical to success will be the utilisation of data driven insight to inform, develop, and improve operational offers and delivery both at local and country level. Collaborating with BRC area team, volunteers, and external partners to ensure our offer is understood, relevant, utilised, and effective.

In addition to the development, implementation and management of the area operating plans and budgets, this role will manage and develop a service delivery team of staff and volunteers.

A day in the life of a Emergency Response Operations Manager will involve:

• Day to day management and leadership of the operational teams (staff and volunteers) to assist local communities with building resilience towards local crises.
• Setting and monitoring performance measures to reporting against outcomes
• Writing and executing operational plans focusing on how we will respond on localised crises.
• Understanding and interpreting data and insight to assist with the continuous improvement of the service we provide.
• Preparing and presenting reports, written communications and presentations.

To be a successful Emergency Response Operations Manager, You’ll need:

• Experience of working in crisis’ and emergencies
• A strong track record in developing and ensuring the implementation of strategic and operational emergency plans
• Practical management experience of operational teams including effective deployment of resources
• Experience of identifying service needs, and exploiting and developing service opportunities
• Experience of working with, and leading volunteers
• A Full UK driving License and access to a vehicle
• Knowledge of local government, statutory and voluntary sectors in which the BRC works
