We are searching for an experienced individual to join our senior team as our new Finance and Resources Manager. You will lead our Finance Team and be accountable for all financial reporting and analysis in the charity while ensuring effective systems and controls are in place throughout our organisation.
Working closely with the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees, you will also act as the charity’s Company Secretary managing all related governance and compliance matters.
You will have a track record of success, be really well organised with an eye for detail, and use your communication and leadership skills to inspire those around you.

Job Purpose
You will support the Chief Executive, Executive Team, and Chair of the Board in all aspects of their work.
We need someone with great organisational and communication skills – and an eye for detail – to make sure the organisation’s governance practices are the best they can be, helping us to make the best decisions about the services we deliver and the future direction of our great charity.
As well as supporting, administering, and keeping our governance practices under review, you will be our lead for data protection and GDPR and you will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Executive Team and Edinburgh office team’s activities.
Job Summary
The core elements of job are:
1. To provide comprehensive and high-quality administrative support including projects and related tasks which effectively support the Chief Executive in all aspects of their work.
2. To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Charity’s Board of Trustees’ activities (Board) and aid and support to the Chair and Board Members.
3. To provide Company Secretary assistance and support, managing and documenting key governance and statutory functions and activities to fulfil all legal requirements.
4. To act as an ambassador for the Chief Executive, Chair and Board in all matters and use balanced judgement to prioritise and deal with competing demands.
5. To act as Data Protection Officer for the organisation.
6. To line manage and support the receptionist/administrator role at Head Office.
So what type of person are we looking for?
You will have considerable experience in supporting teams at Executive and Board level. A sound understanding of data protection and GDPR regulations is essential.
The nature of the role is that you will be able to work flexibly, using your own initiative. We are looking for a team player but, most significantly, we require someone who is committed to and who can live the values of the organisation in everything they do – being kind, inclusive, open and honest, aspirational and creative.
An understanding of the social care sector would be an advantage.

The Head of Services will work as part of the Senior Management Team for Cosgrove Care with a key focus on the design, delivery, and development of high quality services which are fully compliant with regulatory bodies and meet and exceed expected standards. The Head of Services will lead key members of operational staff to deliver against the strategy, ensuring efficient, effective and person centred supports are provided. The post holder will work with the Corporate Management Team (CMT) to develop and implement a clear strategic direction for Cosgrove which includes developing new service models, securing outcomes focused provision and supporting the diversification of income. The development of innovative approaches to practice is key to this role. So too is engaging and developing a high performing operational team.
Essential skills and experience
- Educated in a relevant discipline with extensive experience at a managerial level within the Third and/or Public Sector.
- Extensive knowledge of current legislation and policy in Scotland as it relates to child and adult social care.
- Experience of working at a senior level and designing and implementing strategy with a track record of success
- Clear understanding of the Scottish regulatory environment and delivering high performing services which meet and exceed standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of implementing quality management systems and driving up organisational standards
- Extensive knowledge of supervision and management of a diverse staff team.
- Experience of appraisal and staff development.
- Experience of service evaluation and review.
- Experience of developing and managing budgets and of designing reporting mechanisms for both financial and operational activity.
- Knowledge of the principles of person centred support and a strong commitment to the UNCRC
- Excellent self-organising and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, juggle tasks and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines with the minimum of supervision.
- Evidence of a positive and flexible attitude towards getting things done by creating opportunities or minimising potential problems by anticipating and preparing for these in advance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, Board members and external stakeholders at all levels, through being reliable, punctual and maintaining a pleasant work attitude.
- Articulate with experience of report writing, presentation and media work.
- Meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem solving and forward planning skills.
- Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently, and as part of a team.
- Willingness to support and help colleagues as and when required at all times.

We are looking for a fun, creative, enthusiastic team player who is highly motivated to plan and organise exciting sporting opportunities for veterans with sight loss. You will have experience of facilitating groups with the ability to build rapport quickly and be an effective networker.
You will have a passion or interest in specific sports or physical activity with a desire to motivate individuals to get more active. You will be willing to travel to engage with veterans and other organisations to increase access to sporting opportunities across Scotland.
You will work to increase access to sporting opportunities within veterans own local communities, building upon the comradeship that the veteran’s community often enjoy. The role will be key in identifying sporting opportunities and developing partnerships that veterans with sight loss can engage with, ensuring accessibility and supporting participation in these. Another key part of the role is building positive and sustainable partnerships that benefits veterans and their families within their local areas. The job also involves recognising and supporting the organisation with other events/activities that may encourage social and peer support opportunities.

What this job is about:
This job is important to us, as it aligns with the Charity’s aim to create and support accessible opportunities for veterans with sight loss, who access our activity hubs.
The key aspect of the role requires you to be responsible for safely transporting veterans with sight loss, to and from the activity hub. Our driving team play a huge part in ensuring that the veterans can attend the Activity Hubs and are times required to provide some support to ensure veterans can access the vehicles. The role will require an adherence to health and safety with regards to routinely checking the fleet to ensure there are no issues, and reporting this to the leadership team.
As the welcoming face of Sight Scotland Veterans, you will often be the first contact the veterans have each day, and as such are an important representative for the organisation. The veterans enjoy chatting with the driving team whilst on the vehicles and a welcoming and friendly personality is an asset within the role.
What we want you to be responsible and accountable for:
- To be responsible for safely transporting veterans in the minibus or car to and from the Activity Hub or other locations, as required.
- To undertake any driving duties necessary to the functioning of the organisation as agreed with the Deputy Manager.
- To take responsibility for Health & Safety in relation to the minibus or car including ensuring, that all passengers use appropriate seatbelts / restraints during all journeys and that all passengers are assisted in a safe fashion when boarding / exiting the minibus or car.
- Ensure that the minibus or car is driven with due care and attention in accordance with current road traffic legislation.
- Take responsibility for the routine maintenance of the minibus or car, including cleaning the vehicles and ensuring the Deputy is informed as soon as possible of any problems in relation to the vehicles.
- Ensure all wheelchair clamps are present and functioning in the minibus.
- Any other reasonable driving or ancillary duties that may be required.
The current duties of the role require a criminal records check or membership of the PVG scheme through Disclosure Scotland.
