Role

Every week three children in Scotland die from a life-shortening condition. For thirty years Children's Hospices Across Scotland (better known as CHAS) has been offering a full family support service for babies, children, and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence. Our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland who is living with the heart-breaking prognosis that their child is dying, and offer them our care and support to empower them to make the most of the short time they have together. This post will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

Currently, CHAS holds 11 owned and leased sites across Scotland: two hospices open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, four shops, six offices and staff bases, and Ardoch, a 136-acre residential events venue on the banks of Loch Lomond.

CHAS are now approaching the market to fill a key management post which will play a vital part in leading the development and operational management of whole Estate. This post holder will work and collaborate widely with managers across the organisation and will contribute to the leadership of the organisation.

The Purpose of the Job:

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the provision, delivery and management of the Asset and Hard FM Services for the CHAS estate, including the following:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a maintenance strategy and systems and processes that ensure all assets are statutorily maintained to the highest standard;
  • Delivery of Capital Projects including refurbishment and improvement projects;
  • Responsible for Procurement and Contract Management across all aspects of Hard Facilities Management and Capital Development;
  • Assist the Head of Estates and Facilities in the development of the Property Strategy;
  • Ensure the smooth running of the facilities function across the organisation, managing and small team and ensuring an ongoing understanding of the needs of the organisation and the children and families it serves;

About You

  • You will be an enthusiastic and motivated manager with a minimum of five years’ experience of managing support services or related function in a multi-user, multi-site environment.
  • You will have experience of managing a wide range of professional services such as property, facilities and health and safety management;
  • You will be degree qualified and hold a post graduate or professional qualification in a relevant subject e.g. IFMA
  • You will have a high level of knowledge of relevant industry standards and of current Health and Safety Legislation and Management and Risk Management
  • You will have demonstrable experience of business process workflow as well as administrative and organisational policies and procedures
  • You will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised and be able to prioritise effective
