Teens+ provides post-school education and lifelong learning services for young people with complex communication needs including autism and learning disabilities. Based in two centres in Edinburgh (Liberton Brae and Ravenscroft), and one centre in East Lothian.

Purpose of role

With support and guidance from the Head of Service the Next Steps Coordinator will take an active lead on working with students internally to plan for their next steps and what this looks like with them. This could be planning college support, volunteer opportunities to develop skills or for a work placement to develop a career path.

You will work with the local community and employers to build a portfolio of opportunities and community connections that supports people to live the lives they choose and to develop their skills to do this.

You will create and maintain relationships with all stakeholders and build on the experiences of people who access the service.

You will promote the service and share the opportunities with people outside of Teens+ and develop a Next Steps plan with them.

Who are we looking for?

The successful applicant will have proven experience of working with adults with additional support needs using a person-centred approach.

  • You will understand how to connect with the local communities
  • You will have an understanding of employability services and how to plan with someone for their future.
  • You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, and must be able to work on your own initiative.
  • You will have the drive to succeed within this exciting project.
  • You will be able to communicate effectively 1:1 as well as to groups of people.
  • The successful applicants will require membership of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme.
