Due to retirement of our current Groups Co-ordinator, we are looking to recruit an experienced practitioner to join our team based here in Alloa. This post involves overseeing our group work provision (mainly within the early-years framework) in areas across Clackmannanshire. The Groups Co-ordinator role is a hands-on role and is well supported by 2 Family Support Group Workers and a cluster of Group Volunteers.

The parents we support are struggling with daily challenges such as mental health illness, disability, poverty, domestic abuse, relationship difficulties, trauma, isolation and loneliness. In addition to our weekly Family Support Groups, we provide one to one support to families in their own homes and out and about in the community.

Key responsibilities:

• An understanding of the needs of children and families
• Experience of supporting babies and children (and parents) within an early years group setting.
• Relevant experience of working alongside families with young children and babies experiencing challenges/trauma
• Experience of working in partnership with both statutory services and third sector partners
• Good working knowledge of child protection and child development
• Good IT and Database skills
• A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.

Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a minimum level of SCQF Level 7 (SVQ Level 3) in a relevant field and show a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development. As is usual, this post is subject to membership of the PVG Scheme and suitable references.

• supporting fathers and male carers to address their substance use and attendant risks

• working with fathers and male carers to promote a safer lifestyle for the family

The post is funded by Corra Foundation and West Lothian Council until June 2025

Our service has been developed in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Grampian Autistic Society and provides a mix of care at home, community and residential short breaks. Our exciting programme enables children with complex disabilities to have new experiences and make new friends. At the same time, their families are enabled to have a crucial break to recharge and refresh their batteries enabling them to maintain the high level of support their children need when they return home from their short break. The Hub also provides holistic family support through a menu of services that support and complement direct support offered to children and young people. Working with the children is not a ‘quick fix’ but a long term endeavour supporting them to make small incremental change that over time becomes significant. The role is challenging but also immensely rewarding.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for two Full Time Young People’s Worker who, ideally, can bring their own experience and skills to complement those of our team. Working 5 days out of 7, shifts over a 24-hour period 7 days per week, including sleepovers, evenings and weekends. You will be enthusiastic, motivated and a caring individual who will contribute to the development of care and support plans, working in a child centred outcomes focused manner to ensure that children, young people and their families get the most out of their service. You will work closely with internal and external colleagues in a multi-agency approach to ensure that the holistic needs of children, young people and families are central to service provision. We are particularly looking for workers who have health care experience, knowledge and skills to support children and young people with complex health needs within their own homes.
