Meetings are held in person on a Thursday from 1:30pm – 3:00pm at Craighalbert Centre, 1 Craighalbert Way, Cumbernauld, G68 0LS, with remote attendance available where required. Approximately 4 hours per month Trustee business in support of the Centre

Terms of Office:Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term of office, with renewal for one further 3-year term to a maximum of 6-years. (Currently under review)

Salary:Unpaid (voluntary role)

Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses can be reimbursed.

Start Date: The appointee is expected to take up the post as soon as possible.

Who are we?

The SCCMI is one of only seven Scottish Government funded Grant Aided Special Schools. The Centre includes an independent school for children and young people with additional support needs, nursery services and inreach/ outreach learning and therapeutic services that support families and practitioners throughout Scotland. The children and young people attending the school and nursery experience complex health and learning needs. Families supported through inreach/ outreach services are affected by a broad range of disability impacting on motor function and learning. Our aim is simple; to support children, young people, and their families to attain and maintain the highest level of holistic well-being possible. Our ethos is to get it right for every child helping children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century.

Trustee: Role Overview

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that the SCCMI achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the SCCMI has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.

Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable the SCCMI to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission to enable all children/young people with motor learning difficulties throughout Scotland to develop their cognitive, psychomotor abilities, and life skills to improve the quality of their lives and achieve their maximum level of independence.

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

The Social Enterprise Academy helps thousands of people to develop themselves and their organisations so that they can change the world for the better.

Through dynamic learning and development programmes, facilitated by our network of skilled learning facilitators, we help entrepreneurship and leadership to flourish in organisations, networks, schools and colleges. Many of our programmes are accredited, ensuring learners can gain formal qualifications as recognition for their learning. Assessments focus on learning from work-based situations, helping learners to apply what they learn during their programme and beyond.

The Quality and Qualifications Manager role is crucial to the Global Learning Lab, ensuring we maintain our quality assurance standards, manage relationships with our awarding bodies and continue to expand the Academy’s offering of credit rated programmes.

Job Purpose

To lead, drive and have organisation-wide accountability for the maintenance of our learning programme quality standards and for the initial and ongoing achievement of qualification awarding partner accreditation requirements.

The post holder supports the Academy’s sales and growth objectives by overseeing the establishment of robust quality processes and associated evidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that appropriate quality assurance frameworks, standards, systems and processes are in place and implemented effectively.
• Ensure that staff and external delivery colleagues are appropriately trained and supported to comply with quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance on credit rating and accreditation matters relating to the development of new programme content.
• Provide subject expertise and up-to-date awareness of policy developments relating to UK and International accreditation systems and opportunities.
• Take ownership of strategic and operational relationships with the Academy’s key accreditation partners globally.
• Act as the named internal verifier, liaising with programme designers, facilitators, learning coordinators, markers and learners to undertake all relevant duties including sampling activities, answering queries relating to assessment processes and criteria, maintaining up-to-date records of internal quality assurance activity, monitoring and supporting the work of assessors, facilitating relevant CPD and ensuring any actions required by accrediting bodies are undertaken.
• Lead on the identification of appropriate international accreditation processes and procedures to support international accreditation and qualifications (in consultation with colleagues and Hubs).

The Role:

The STEM programme is delivered through practical hands on workshops, family events and teacher training within four key themes: Aerospace, Green Energy, Environmental

Science, and Sustainable Design, these themes make the most of the existing expertise in the wider Prince’s Foundation, as well as the local STEM employment opportunities and expertise.

Due to themes and existing expertise on the estate a candidate with a background in physics, engineering or digital technologies would be at an advantage. The candidate should however be comfortable teaching STEM subjects out with their area of expertise to a primary and secondary school level, with support from the wider Education team and industry experts.

The wider education programme on Dumfries House Estate is delivered across themes including: STEM; Food, Farming and Horticulture; Outdoor Activity; Hospitality; Textiles and Building Crafts. Due to the holistic nature of the programme, the post holder will be required to assist in these areas from time to time, take part in CPD in these areas and work with colleagues across the education team on cross curricular education projects.

The post holder will assist in the development and implementation of workshops, industry training programmes, short courses and project related education activity including large scale events and cross curricular delivery. The post holder will also prepare and deliver classes across a range of ages as well as maintaining stakeholder relationships with industry and education partners.
