Working across Edinburgh, Multi-Cultural Family Base (MCFB) believes passionately about issues of diversity. They want to break down stereotypes, challenge prejudices and promote a society that welcomes difference and diversity. MCFB staff advocate for families when they experience unfair discrimination. They provide direct services to children and families, particularly at times of transition. Furthermore, MCFB is a provider of education to Social Work students and others and aims to promote anti-racist education.
We are now looking for a new Chief Executive to lead and ensure best possible practice and service delivery to multi-cultural families, to achieve financial stability through long-term funding and to drive anti-racist and multi-cultural education. You will support the Deputy CEO’s expansion of anti-racist and multi-cultural education through universities and drive funding for this expansion. You will influence Scottish Government and other bodies in relation to policy and implementation of culturally appropriate services to BAME communities.
We’re looking for someone who understands the issues affecting the lives of people in BAME communities and who can see ways to help them overcome the barriers – and who will also fight for the barriers to be removed. Someone who can support the staff in their challenging and, at times, emotionally upsetting work. Someone who has the ability and willingness to engage with official representatives as well as with service-users. Someone who can advocate for change at Scottish Government and local Council levels in relation to issues of injustice and racism.
If this is you, if you strongly believe in the aims and values of MCFB, have a recognised professional qualification perhaps in Social Work, Community Education, Community Learning and Development, Health and/or Leadership and Management, have strong strategic experience, are a superb fundraiser and have knowledge and understanding of equalities and anti-racist practices, please get in touch.
If this opportunity excites you and you feel you have the skills and motivation required, then please contact us at email@example.com to request the Candidate Information Pack.
You are advised to get in touch well in advance of the closing date to give us time to consider your application and pre-interview the strongest applicants.
